"I would thoroughly recommend Ruth at Heirloom London, who added a hinge to my ring in February 2024. Due to arthritis, the joints in my fingers had swollen to such an extent that the ring would no longer fit and I thought I would never be able to wear jewellery again. Her efforts have changed all of that. Having the opportunity to wear a ring that I love again is wonderful. My hand no longer feels bare and ugly and I no longer feel the need to hide it away. The quality of the mechanism is also excellent. The clasp is so discrete that no-one would ever know that it is there. Her jeweller added the hinged shank to the setting perfectly. The shoulders were shaped to match the design of the existing ring and, although the band is slightly thicker to cater for the hinge, the difference is barely noticeable - it would be hard for anyone to know that it is not the same ring. Putting it on could not be more straightforward. As taking it off is easier with a spare pair of hands, my husband usually helps. He finds it simple to release the clasp using the stylus and to flip open the hinge with a fingernail. I cannot emphasise enough just how pleased I am with the ring and with Heirloom London. I honestly thought my days of wearing rings were over. Ruth has been brilliant throughout. It was a delight to meet her and her levels of customer service are exemplary. I hope to see her again soon with another ring and would recommend her and the hinged mechanism to anyone suffering from arthritis or swollen finger joints."
