“I'll break this review down into 2 steps so you can read the one most relevant to you! The long and short of is however that yes, you should choose Ruth to source your stone and/ or design & build your ring! Step 1: Sourcing a stone. By far and away, Ruth was the best of the 3 jewelers that I went to when sourcing a coloured diamond to build an engagement ring. She was immediately responsive, had the best connections and found what turned out to be the right stone within a day (although I was difficult and wanted to compare it to a few others, which she was happy to help with!). Step 2 - Designing the ring: I came into the process with an idea of what a 'safe' ring design would look like (i.e. the one on the picture that my girlfriend had shown me, a standard halo) - but I did also want to play around to see if we could go with a more floral design. Starting with a mood board and then moving onto more detailed drawings, Ruth was always fast at iterating her designs and providing helpful tips for me to think about. In the end we got a unique variation of the halo, with yellow gold accents to accentuate the colour of diamond, and a perfect polish and finish!”

“I would thoroughly recommend Ruth at Heirloom London, who added a hinge to my ring in February 2024. Due to arthritis, the joints in my fingers had swollen to such an extent that the ring would no longer fit and I thought I would never be able to wear jewellery again. Her efforts have changed all of that. Having the opportunity to wear a ring that I love again is wonderful. My hand no longer feels bare and ugly and I no longer feel the need to hide it away. The quality of the mechanism is also excellent. The clasp is so discrete that no-one would ever know that it is there. Her jeweller added the hinged shank to the setting perfectly. The shoulders were shaped to match the design of the existing ring and, although the band is slightly thicker to cater for the hinge, the difference is barely noticeable - it would be hard for anyone to know that it is not the same ring. Putting it on could not be more straightforward. As taking it off is easier with a spare pair of hands, my husband usually helps. He finds it simple to release the clasp using the stylus and to flip open the hinge with a fingernail. I cannot emphasise enough just how pleased I am with the ring and with Heirloom London. I honestly thought my days of wearing rings were over. Ruth has been brilliant throughout. It was a delight to meet her and her levels of customer service are exemplary. I hope to see her again soon with another ring and would recommend her and the hinged mechanism to anyone suffering from arthritis or swollen finger joints.”

“Miracle worker! Ruth made an already daunting process of proposing very stress free and easy. When I first met Ruth, I was clueless about rings and diamonds, and didn’t know where to start. She took the time to educate me on the subject and guided me through the process. During the final stages, Ruth took my ramblings and turned it into a piece of art; she created exactly what I wanted and I have a very happy fiancé.”

“Ruth helped me rebuild and redesign my wife's broken engagement ring. From start to finish the service was professional. “Ruth designed and made a stunning diamond pendent for my partner’s 30th birthday. Ruth supported me every step of the way, helping me with the concept and sketching possibilities, and then keeping me informed every step of the way. The result is a beautiful piece of jewellery of superb craftsmanship, which my partner loves and has not taken off. So impressed by the service I received from Ruth, I entrusted her and her team, to repair and service my late father’s watch, a hugely sentimental piece to me. Again, I was treated to another personalised and effortless experience. “I had a broach which I wanted incorporated into a necklace. I had an idea in my head about how it would look but I needed a drawing to make sure we were both thinking along the same lines. Ruth Donaldson produced several options which were drawn to scale. We had three face-to-face meetings during the design process. Costs were discussed at every stage. She was meticulous in taking it step by step and the finished article was exactly as I expected.........wonderful!”

She guided me expertly through the process of having a complicated antique ring remodelled, communicating swiftly and clearly every step of the way. I particularly appreciated her frankness and honesty, and the different options (with different prices) she presented. Ruth sourced expert craftsmen I could never have found on my own. “I was unable to wear my engagement and wedding rings as they had become too small but Heirloom London combined both rings to make one beautiful ring that not only fits but was the design I had always wanted. Brilliant advice and care and attention throughout, excellent quality and workmanship. The personal service from Ruth was very much appreciated and the ring was presented in a beautiful box and gift bag. “In the beginning, I googled and found the website which seemed very friendly and approachable. I met Ruth in person and had a very detailed and careful discussion about my requirements. Essentially I wanted to combine my wedding ring and my late husband's ring into one ring. We discussed several ideas and came up with the final version which included engraving to match my engagement ring. This has given the whole ring a style all of its own while keeping sight of the original rings. Received the finished ring yesterday, again from meeting Ruth in person and I couldn't be more thrilled with it.”
