I was disappointed by the course. Prior to taking the course I was informed that following completion I would be certified to administer botulinum toxin and dermal fillers including lips. The training day itself carried little to no actual training, for the student to feel competent to carry out these procedures on live models in future. There were no opportunity to practice botulinum toxin administration at all, just a demonstration. The only opportunity to practice lip fillers was on a dummy and this was for a couple of minutes. This leaded to me being very disappointed at having gained no actual practical work that I paid for another course. This course was a waste of money.

Thank you for the informative day, I did learn a lot. When I spoke to Dr. Mehta before the course he confirmed the positives of mannequins over real models would be so we can practice as many times. Unfortunately we were only allowed to practice on the mannequins for Botox injections only once. I understand time restraints could be a factor; could the course start at 9am rather than 10am maybe? The room was crammed and turned into a sauna as there was an issue with the air-con system there. Maybe this could be addressed with a fan or liaising with the floor manager to fix the issue. Helen’s practical skills and practical teaching side was really good. Thanks again

Thanks for your review, Mojtaba. We understand that the Foundation Day in Manchester suffered from an unusual number of issues and we apologise that you were exposed to an unusually below par learning experience on this date. We have discussed the issue of timings with the trainer as usually there is plenty of time to practice as many times as you like, and been reassured that this will not happen again. We have also addressed the air conditioning and staffing issues with the venue as this is highly out of the ordinary. We hope you join us for more mentoring days and workshops so that you can experience how high our standards of training truly are. Kind Regards, Harley Academy
I felt it was expensive. It also did not achieve what it set out to do- to enable participants be independent practitioners.

Hi there, We're sorry that did not feel that the course was good value. We try to benchmark our Foundation Day fees against the industry average. Foundation Training from any provider will equip you with the legal minimum knowledge to gain insurance, but a single training day will rarely allow a brand new practitioner to practice safely on their own. As such, we focus out foundation days on safety, contraindications, and risks and generally do not recommend that practitioners start injecting independently after just one day of training. We see this as the first step in your journey and encourage you to use the foundation day as a stable foundation for further training. The latest Health Education England guidelines are transforming the nature of the industry, and we feel that it is dishonest for any one-day course provider to market their Foundation Day as a direct route into safe, successful practice any more. Our training is designed to be safely gradated via the following steps: 1. Theoretical training: focus on complications, risks, and their prevention. 2. Hands-on injection practise: learning safe + appropriate needle depth and placement on mannequins. - This stage is especially important for students who have no prior experience with facial injectables or facial anatomy. 3. Closely supervised clinical practice on real patients. We believe that this is safest when performed 1:1, in a real clinical environment, which is why we built our mentoring programme and training clinics. We hope you'll continue on to the Level 7 qualification if you are interested in starting your own independent practice. If there is anything else that we can do to improve your experience with us, don't hesitate to let us know. Otherwise, we apologise for your negative experience. Kind Regards Harley Academy
I would have liked to see more videos of diagnosis and treatment planning and procedural video by specialist trained mentors

i enjoyed the foundation day however when encouraged to enroll on the level 7 course we were told that we would need upto 5 mentoring days which would be as full as possible for enough observations/practices.... there are not many clients booked in each therefore needing to pay 350 many times to ensure you get cases. It seems like its more and more money and waste of time doing if you haven't got prescribing under your belt which they do not tell you either.

We had the chance to practice quickly on a manikin but that was the extent of our practical experience. Most other foundation courses offer practising on real people which would build confidence much more. On reflection, i would not recommend the Harley Academy foundation course to anyone after comparing them to other more practical-based teaching sessions which do aim to leave the practitioner feeling confident on completion of the study day. I am very disappointed.
