Pretty good. Quite straight forward. Applied, offered, accepted....did the work and got paid promptly at the end of the week. With all that in mind, I’m guessing people are wondering why only 3 stars?.......the reason is Grafter are not by any means fluid enough. They only release messages notifying you that a job has been posted in bulk over a set number of times a day. This means that if someone logs in more often than you over the course of the day they may get the job before you as a message to notify of the job has not been sent for a couple of hours after the job has been posted. This is frustrating in my opinion for both the ‘Grafter’ but also from the employers point of view. Imagine hiring someone to do a job and then you find out a much better candidate has surfaced further down the line? In this day and age this is old fashioned at best and just plain rubbish as worst.

Hi Sean That's really good feedback thanks. We used to send alerts immediately but people complained they were getting spammed. Especially in the big cities where we have lots of jobs per day. However, it sounds like we are not doing enough now, so we will revisit that and see if we can do something more intelligent... Tom
Grafter never showed up. No assistance in this respect from the website, they are only interested in getting their fee paid when the job is don and everything runs smoothly, but if the grafter is unreliable they don't take action.

Unfortunately I haven't actually used a Grafter as yet. The first one I offered the position to, had to isolate himself due to Covid contact on the day he was due to start. The other applicants were too far away apart from one, who accepted the job but then had to decline as he had some other work come his way that he choose to do. I still live in hope that this last applicant may come back to me I have messaged him.

Good variety of work coming through. If you are a skilled worker that it is more worth it. Wouldn’t rely on it too much getting offered a job is few and far between but the system worked and it’s idea for casual workers.

I have applied for many jobs and only spoken to one client out of around 20 jobs I have applied for, the one bit of work I have done I still haven't been paid for and there is little I can do about it, I worked out that you take roughly %33 of the price the client offers which is quite a large percentage. The app is a good idea but needs a lot of work. I have found the closest jobs to me advertised on the gov.uk website but I am unable to apply for them really frustrating!

Hi Alex, We have no record about you not being paid. If you contact us about this we would be happy to make sure you get paid then you could get a review which would help you get more work. We don't take 33%, I have not idea how you came up with this number! It is very clear on the app that we take nothing from the worker and only charge the client a small 10% fee for using the platform. This is all open and clear, nothing hidden and much less that agencies that charge anywhere from 30% to 100% hidden mark-up. Feel free to contact us if you need this clarified.
Hi guys, first off I think the idea you've had is brilliant and it got me two weeks work with some really decent people so that's the most important thing. Communication between the platform and my client wasn't great as he didn't really know what was going on with how to pay us (he did pay us though, so all good). The guys I was working with all had trouble getting id and tax verified so that could be easier. The website is buggy, my DOB changed twice on it's own! Lastly the options above are 1,2,2,4 and 5 stars. Overall a great idea and I will use it again next time I need work. Joe

I am sorry you didn't realise that, it is not only in the terms and conditions, but also on the home page and the 'Hire Grafter' pages of our website. It is also in the instructions for how to use the service in a few places in the help section. We obviously have to charge for the service in order to pay for it, but we are proud of the fact that we can help people find and hire people at a fraction of the cost of a temp agency or job board, we definitely don't try to hide it!
We received a lot of interest which is good. The paying bit is a bit inflexible. It sets a day as 7 hours, which cant be changed. When you come to pay it seems to accept whole days OR hours not both so you cant seem to pay overtime/undertime. You cant pay part way through the final day (until the 7 hours are up) in anticipation so that the worker gets paid before they leave on Friday.

Thank you for your comments. It seems you had a problem, because you should be able to enter a combination of days and hours to get the right payment. It must have been a problem with your browser. Feel free to contact us and we will be happy to look into this with you.
Payment and contact was easy online. Can't make any changes online after booking is made so had to email customer services. Worked also changed hours during the job which they shouldn't be allowed as they don't have the insurance cover. Start and finish time would be a great addition, like a timesheet so it is easier for hirer to pay for what they received.

Generally a good set up; 'message alerts' would be useful so you know when a grafter has responded to you (without having to go into the message bubble to check). However my main concern is that it takes Grafter up to 7 days to pay someone, this is not acceptable and should be quicker.

Hi Adam, thanks for the feedback. You are absolutely right, 7 days is not acceptable. This has been the norm for most payment systems (like Stripe ) due to money laundering control. However, we have found a new solution which pays immediately which we are implementing and should be in place by Feb.... Regards Tom
