6 Times I have tried to arrange for the black box to be fitted to my car. All I get told by the company that fit them is Carrot have not sent my details through, I talk to carrot and they tell me they have. Unable to talk to someone, Live chat only.. Ohh yeah that's if the systems are not down again. Still waiting well over a month now..

@CarrotInsurance absolutely disgraceful, my recently unemployed (due to Covid) ex forces son has just been charged £58 for a ‘Change of Status’ to unemployed for being honest whilst making an enquiry over business insurance you should be ashamed , unbelievable!

Avoid! They don’t care about customers once they’ve got your money! Cheap but if you need to contact them you’re screwed. Very unhelpful and do not want to talk over the phone for anything so it’s live chat only. Customer service is useless. Only going with the big insurers from now on, this one is a scam.

I wanted insurance for second driver and they denied and didnt even give reason said its nothing we cant do and left me with disappointment even I pay so much money for a black box and insurance and especially now in this difficult times I wanted to keep safe my husband to drive to work with car as he is key worker but they didnt help at all and left me with nothing. Disappointed and angry. 100% when my insurance policy finishing I will change to different insurance, and how can be the company you can contact only by live chat. How ridiculous is that!

Carrot was promising on price but frankly have Very poor in several areas. Their phone service has left me waiting over an hour and twenty mins. Their carrot wingman is absolutely terrible and never connects to my car, it has even connected to other peoples cars. I have also been threatened with a cancellation of policy, which was based solely on a mistake on their end. My policy was much cheaper with carrot than with other companies but I don’t believe the price is even worth it. Definitely WOULD NOT recommend carrot to anyone unless something significantly changed...

The app hasn't worked for 9 months of my year with Carrot Insurance. So therefore, have not reveived my "treats" for all this time. Was promised serveral times my issue was being investigated and nothing ever changed. Will noy be renewing.

Had carrot for 2 years, on the first year I had the audacity to move adress for which I was charged an extra £300 on top of my premium, ordinarily I wouldnt have minded this but they were extremely threatening and told me I only had a week to pay, on the second year (only chose them again because they were the cheapest and I was a little strapped for cash) they told me I had used all my miles, again was given an extremely threatening letter of cancellation unless I paid them more money. Moral of the story here is you get what you pay for, avoid at all costs, especially if a young driver living independently as I was, they will try something to get more money as they know they can make it impossible for you to get insured ever again

Like with any insurance any changes made to the policy may incur extra premium, and as it is a mileage based insurance you are required to purchase more miles if you run out, which we do explain before you buy. Charged me extra for having another business, threatening that they will cancel my policy if I didn't pay!! Will not be renewing my policy!

Absolutely awful! Have had my insurance with them for nearly a year now and after numerous of messages and phone calls to sort out the reoccurring issue NOTHING has still been done. The carrot box simply doesn't work, I have to contact them every month asking what's happening with this and I get the same response! Nothing has been done. I have about 2 weeks left for this year's insurance and I certainly won't be renewing. It has only tracked 50miles since last February. Making it pointless for me to use the rewards as it isn't being tracked!

I’ve had to live chat 4 times about the same thing. They say IT will sort this and they never do. It’s still not been fixed and then they say they’re going to cancel the insurance even tho I’ve spoken to them about the issue multiple times

Don’t insure with carrot . Pay the extra to avoid the massive headache and constant worry of policy cancellation for an error as simple as forgetting to turn on the blue tooth on your phone. The carrot wingman is a bright orange eye sore to your car which will constantly fall off your windscreen.If you encounter a problem when setting you carrot app ,which you inevitably will as it is completely over complicated and time consuming you will not be able to talk to anyone about it over the phone as they have narrowed down there call handlers to purely deal with claims and nothing else . If you call they will refuse to help and send you to a tedious automated system which if you grit your teeth you may eventually be able to get through to a person , where you will communicate via message.If you do decide to ensure with carrot , I hope your phone has an great battery life because the numerous components of your phone you have to constantly keep open to avoid them cancelling your policy is massive and will kill your battery very quickly. Passiveness and not reading into this policy was my error . Seeing the cheap price I picked carrot instinctively, to think I could of went to Hastings for 140 more is painful.

I am giving a one star review because u can’t get any lower been try to get someone from this company to reply to my son for the last few days the so called robot keeps typing a agent will get back to you in 5 mins that was 7 hours ago Through live chat email and telephone Will never recommend this company to anyone going to the ombudsman

Cheap insurance but definitely not worth the stress. I've had this insurance since April 2019. I went with them because they were the cheapest, but you definitely pay a price for it. Each week, your driving is rated Green, Amber or Red. Over 40 weeks, I've had 5 Green weeks and 32 Amber. I've also had 3 Red weeks.... These ratings seem to coincide with LONGER journeys that I have made (i.e. over 40 minutes long and when I need to drive at 40 mph). Unfortunately, the app seems to penalise you for driving at night, for driving longer distances (where you are more likely to encounter other drivers and have to respond to their nonsense!) and on faster roads (over 30mph!). There's no way of you arguing with the rating and you get a maximum of 4 Reds before your policy is cancelled. This insurance policy is not worth the headache or anxiety. If you're a seasoned driver (I've had my licence for almost 7 years) or drive longer distances... FIND ANOTHER INSURANCE PROVIDER.

The issue that I raised with carrot live talk has not yet been resolved. I am utterly disappointed that I have not been able to see an updated driving score on my app for weeks and I have raised this issue several times.

although they offer the best price on most comparison sites, I could not advise anyone more to not go with carrot, the black box policy is so strict and cancelled my policy when they came to fit the box as they said my window tints that came on the car were modifications and they were not declared. as my policy was going to be cancelled I cancelled it myself and got charged a massive fee which I am still paying to this day, customer service phone lines are slow and not helpful and the live chat is just as bad. I would NOT recommend carrot insurance to anybody they have low insurance prices but sting you with high fees for everything else!

Difficult to get hold of, calls are never given even when you request one. Staff seem to be very rude. The drivers app never works.

Customer service is all online trying to get a call back is like getting blood out of a stone. They don’t seem to want to help and all give the same answers like they are robots. App doesn’t work properly and you received two treats a Halfords voucher for £3 and costa voucher for £3 don’t be fooled by treat it’s not worth it. It is a company for making Money they don’t care about their customers. Stay away at all costs.

Please avoid this company. Even if getting an app sunds easier than having a black box installed, it is not worth it. Unfortunately it's not possible to give zero stars. Instead of writing a huge rant (because I've just had to write one out on email to complain to them), I will summarise. 1. Hidden charges everywhere you look. I got charged £30 because I put one single number wrong on a form once. £30! I wasn't warned there would be a charge if there were any mistakes. Why did I even need to fill in the form if they had access to the information and they were going to charge me anyway? Probably so I would make a mistake and they could make money. 2. I also got charged a ridiculous amount of money to cancel my policy (which I was not warned would be the case when I cancelled) and they straight up refused to email me with a bill. Instead I just got a text telling me I owed them money. 3. You can only contact them through a live chat, which is only open till 6pm. Not great if you work 9-5 as most people do. They're also very slow at replying and not particularly helpful when they do reply. 4. The Wingman does not work and they will threaten to cancel your insurance because of this! My wingman broke so many times and when I would try to get a new one, I would have to go out of my way on the live chat to find out that I was not being sent a new one and I would have to find some other way to fix it. Did I mention they'll threaten to cancel your insurance if it doesn't work. Overall, this company turned me into a Karen - the sort of person who wants to shout at innocent employees who are just trying to do their job. But seriously, don't waste your money, find a more reputable service provider.
