Debenhams Car Insurance is a scam. They keep asking for copies of driving licences and the paper counterparts. You send it then they want it in a different format. Then they want you to go onto a website and generate a code that you have to send them. Then they cancelled my policy. I paid £242 and they have refunded me £145. I have ended up paying just under £100 for less than 1 month's cover and I was left without insurance. I will be submitting a complaint to the Financial Conduct Authority as I believe this is a scam. I am astounded that a household name like Debenhams can act like this.

Useless incompetent staff. Every time you send documents (that aren't asked for when you take out the policy), some different person handles it then you get pestered for the same documents! Policy eventually gets cancelled and you lose money. Will be taking this lot to court. Don't touch them with a barge pole!

I have never come across are unprofessional and disgustingly mannered bunch of idiots. They conned me out of money for an insurance policy that they are now deciding to take no responsibility for and the lack of communication between departments makes it all the more frustrating. I will not be letting this go but mark my word it is a huge mistake for anyone to take out a policy with these dreadful idiots. .

If I could score zero I would, I called to cancel my policy on the 30th and was told it was cancelled only to be harassed by the finance underwriter to sign my credit agreement and confirmation of the date that my direct debit was due on the 5th, when phone debenhams admitted that they had yet to cancel my policy due to an error on their part! Never will I use such an incompetent company again

Maybe I should make them a one. Their after sales is poor. First incident - I bought a new car and tried to swap insurance. The first person gave wrong info and I eventually sorted it by getting a supervisor involved. Second incident - I wanted to add another driver. A waste of time and the promise to call back wasn't fulfilled. Third incident - repeat of second. I think I should go elsewhere.

The price quoted was good but I have found the after sales customer service average at best. Halfway through my policy I bought a new car and had to amend the details. On my first call to get a price the staff were very unprofessional. Lots of laughing and joking with each other. At times I felt as though I was imposing on their social gathering. On my 2nd call to take up the insurance the lady did not speak very clearly and had great difficulty in finding the car make/model I wanted to register. This was even though I was told all details would be on my file following my 1st call. Doubt I will use them again.

I notice not one person from Debenhams insurance tries to rectify and problems there are no follow up to negative reviews. They say truth hurts !!!!!

They don't even deserve 1 star. They constantly requested copies of information I had already sent claiming my insurance was not valid. There is no way I would insure with this company again. My whole experience was stressful and frustrating. Im glad to be free of them again!!

From start to finish. This company is the worst i have dealt with in over 50 years of driving. Three times forwarded same documents, leave you hanging on hold, when you call the actual broker its at£1:02 per minute. Because of frustration I cancelled after three days over £50 charges and the staff refrain from telling the truth ( thats being polite) Dick Turpin was a bandit these people make him look soft.

I found out after a few months that there fully comprehensive policys are not fully comprehensive after all and don't cover driving another car 3rd party like a fully comprehensive policy normally would. They charge you £50 to make amendments and there call center is in south Africa. Part of go skippy.

I have been driving for many years now and dehbinams is by far the worst company i have been with. They needed more proof than even my previous insurer could give about my no claims discount so I just canceled the policy as they wanted to charge me £300 more for having no no claims discount. Would highly not recommend

I decided to cancel my policy a few days before it ran out. The previous policy I had was automatically renewed by credit card and I had trouble reclaiming my money. This I have to say was not with Debenhams but to avoid a similar situation . I cancelled my policy 7 days early. I now find that I have to pay £29.00 for a policy I have paid in full

Customer service appalling. Please don't use this company unless you have hours to spend on the phone and hours to spend sending copies of your and your named driver's driving licence (front and back) also request your driving history from the DVLA. All of this is required by email and is not secure. If at anytime you are fed up with all this rigmarole, they charge you £50 to cancel your policy, even though as yet, you haven't got one. The staff were poorly trained and sounded like robots. I recently tried to put a temporary driver on my insurance for the weekend as we were off to a wedding 300 miles away. The quote came back at £113.00. What??? Last year the same driver cost me £12 for 48 hours, but last year I was with a different insurer, who now appear excellent compared to these goons. As soon as I am able, I will return to the previous company. Hopefully Debenhams will not try and charge for that, but I'm sure they will try. Hideous experience-don't do it.

Don't even bother with them!! We insured our car with them as cheapest quote !! Provided all documents required, for them to go cancel our policy because apparently we didn't provide the proof. I emailed it and my emails confirm I did. Spoke to customer services who wanted us to pay £80 for cancellation fee.. why ?? Avoid!!

Decided to insure with Debenhams after using a comparison website. I received an email from them after a week saying if I did not provide: A copy of my drivers licence Give them access to my details on the DVLA website And provide proof that I had 9 years no claims bonus That they would cancel my insurance and charge me a fee. Despite providing all of this information I received another email a week later saying they hadn't received it and that they were going to cancel my policy! I emailed them all if the information again - it took approximately 3 weeks before I received confirmation that I was fully insured. I have NEVER had to provide any of this documentation EVER to any other company that I have used in the past. AVOID THIS COMPANY - FAR TOO MUCH HASSLE- PAY A FEW QUID MORE AND AVOID THE STRESS!!!

Be warned, the service behind the cheap quote is terrible and they ask you to provide a photo of your driving license and refuse to accept it securely. Putting your driving license in an email and sending in clear means it can be copied by a fraudster. This type of information would be required to open a bank account, so the fraudster has something that should be very difficult to get hold of and he gets it very easily. I wanted to send the photo encrypted and provide a password for Debenhams to Decrypt, this would not be accepted. I very much doubt they look after your driving license in a secure way so be warned, saving a few pound now and having your identity stolen will be a huge price to pay.

What a rip off company over 2 months ago my car got stolen and only yesterday I had the first phone call off the company stating my claim is nearly ready but I have to wait on another phone call before things get settled which still I'm waiting on! And have the cheek to tell me I'm only entitled to 85%. I have phoned this company every week since they took my car to find out what's going on as I have not received one letter or phone call since reporting my claim until yesterday! On the day of reporting my claim I was told that there would be no more payments to be made as the final balance For the years insurance would be taken out of the claim before I recive anything bearing in mind my insurance policy had 7 months remaining and got told I could add another car instead if I wanted too once the claim had been settled, in the meantime I've had letter after letter stating that if I don't keep up with my monthly payments my insurance would be cancelled I contacted debenhams about these letters twice to get told it was sorted and to ignore the letters I had recived still the letters have not stopped coming and I've been charged for car insurance for the past nearly 3 months while I have not had a car or even been driving. This company is an utter joke and not one person on the phone from South Africa properly understood anything I said I asked to speak to someone who could understand me to get told sorry we are all in South Africa! I will never use this company again and will be advising others of my experience with them!

I wish I'd read this before I took out my insurance, I gave all information over the phone but they have tried to say that I gave them the wrong info, they tried to charge me an additional £175 including a £50 admin charge, when I asked to cancel the policy they charged me another £50!! Really poor customer service and communication from the person I spoke to over the phone! Cancelled the policy and paid more for a better service with Sheila's Wheels!!!
