Hi. I was helped on the phone by a lady called Magdalena as I had an issue with my car insurance. She was very helpful, patient and understanding. I need to point out that I was very upset with debenham and on the point of cancelling my insurance and writing a bad review. She managed to help me and I was very satisfied.

I wish I had come upon this site before I purchased my insurance though this "company...Bad customer service and hidden fees .The worst service I have ever experienced!!! AVOID

I had a car insurance with Debenhams, I initially only chose them due to the fact that I trust their 'brand'. I have unfortuately had to cancel my insurance as I have had to sell my car. In the meantime I had been making additional payments in order to clear my debt sooner. I have had the most grief trying to get my money back in YEARS! It has taken them over a week to respond to my emailed questions. When I call them it goes through to 'South Africa' which is all well, however they speak to you as if they are reading off a script and you do not feel as if you are being listened to. I had to literally get 'rude' (which I have not had to do in years) in order to get a 'figure' of how much my refund would be! I would never recommend them not even to my worst enemy! It has been over 7 days, I still have not had my refund, not to mentioned out of £190 which I predicted to get back due to over payments I have made, they are charging me £50 for set up of direct debit! £50 Cancellation and all these other bits and only giving back £77! Their emails are very poorly written, without much detail, so you have to email them back asking for a breakdown of how they arrived at the figure that they did. They have now emailed me saying I have to call my bank with a 'authorization' code in order to retrieve the money. So random. IT IS JUST A NIGHTMARE.

Premium was charged from my credit card but no insurance policy followed ( I received email stating it would take up to 48 hrs ) however 5 days later insurance policy was not emailed . Several frustrated telephone calls ( over 3 hrs on the phone !!) to somewhere im Africa - I was told that policy for some reason " was not created " when I asked for a refund the answer was that within they have to created policy first and to allocate policy number so they have somethin to cancel . Next day email with policy documents has finally arrived - now however I am in process of cancelling it - as after experience of African's Debenhams customer service ( by the way it advitised as a UK calling centres ) I am afraid what kind of assistance one would receive in the case real emergency !

AVOID AVOID AVOID DEBENHAMS INSURANCE One minute my no claims bonus isn't affected during my accident, now they're trying to say I only get 1/4 years! Ironic how it's only when I'm CANCELLING my insurance that they start moving the goal post... Rubbish customer service and incompetent idiots replying to my emails.

Everything. Tried to purchase through Confused.com but it wouldn't complete. had to spend 30 minutes on the phone resubmitting all the details. Then they advise me that the insurance is validated only later they advise me that the named drivers have been taken off without advising me! When I called them about this, they advised me that to take them off (which they had already done apparently) costs £35 and then they wanted to charge me £75 to put them back on again! Avoid this mess.

What went wrong is to be charged £50.00 to change the registration number of the car. Won't matter to you until renewal time comes around. Too late then and a bit short sighted.

Terrible wished I'd never got insurance with this lot , made a mistake on paperwork and cost me £72 extra ,£22 for amendment and £50 fee , wont be renewing with them !

Initially never had a problem until I wanted to change my car on the policy, after finally getting through to someone on a terrible phone line, was told that I would have to pay another £116 upfront and my monthly paymento would go up by £60( even though my new car was brand new and much more economical) I told the lady on the phone that I had been quoted much cheaper online and she basically said tough! So I said I wanted to cancel but you can't actually speak to anyone you have to email. rubbish rip off company

I rate 4 so far, when I changed my current insurance that has same problem with customer service so I hope I don't have the same problem in here. So far it is good. Thank you Kiera.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Tried to cancel insurance after they want every document under the sun emailing/scanned to them. Unable to speak to anyone in the cancellations department as they 'don't take phone calls' emailed, got a response 4 days later saying policy would be cancels from today's date and charged for having the policy for 10 days. Have me a refund figure which makes no sense at all?!? Avoid like the plague. so difficult to speak to a human

What a complete nightmare, do not, I repeat do not have the misfortune of ending up buying insurance through this incompetent, rude, unprofessional company trading off the back of Debenhams. Everything from the enquiry to getting a certificate has been without doubt a complete disaster. Loss of documents, repeat requests for information never provided before to any other insurer, photo copies and then more photo copies of the same 3 times and then threats to withhold the certificate or ask for more money. What a joke, in 2016 this level of service should have been consigned to the history books - sadly not! Will never, ever use Debenhams again for car insurance. Check the other feedback, buyer beware!!

Rude & unprofessional staff. No clue of the ground realities of UK as the customer service is in South Africa. Distressful & depressing to even think of calling them. Never thought Debenhams would have such pathetic levels of customer service. I called them to change my address & they charged me an extra 75 quid even though I moved to a secure area & a private property with garage. No explanation given as to the logic behind this except that the underwriters have done it. $ weeks back the same guys were quoting me 18 quid. Can't believe what changed in between a couple of weeks & it all looks like a scheme to loot & harass people. Never ever. Even with the clothes in their retail store.

The person on the phone was very rude I was trying to get a quote I filled out on line them witch took for every then at the end no quote I work for Debenhams and thought it would be a good idea to have car insurance with you but how wrong was I

So my first car was a 2ltr. Using Google quotes (rip), i came across Debenhams and it was the second cheapest option at £1200ish. Paid that all off very seamlessly online on the day of passing my driving test, receiving all documents promptly and clearly. 8 months later it's time for a new car. I've upgraded to a 3ltr sport Lexus and it was still the cheapest option from the comparison sites. (£400 less when doing a direct quote with them). I Was very sceptical of the customer service having read the other reviews on here, as I knew i'd have to ring up to get it all swapped. To my pleasant surprise, the service was smooth and easy. The advisor (Ebbie Smith) had a mildly difficult accent when reading all the legal stuff quickly, but it wasn't a problem. She was very professional and got it all swapped over for me in about 10mins. All in all, I will be using this company when I renew later in the year. You have to read the negative reviews with a pinch of salt, as people do not tend to go out of their way to leave a good review, but will straight away leave a bad review if they've had a bad experience.

I was refused a staff discount that I was entitled to, the sales person said that I am not entitled, though the hr dept provided me with a discount code and asked me to call them back i.e the car insurance team to get the discount, who in turn on 4 occasions promised to call me back none of them those people I spoke to called me back, they ended cancelling my policy without giving me any notice, while I was driving my car totally unaware that I had no insurance on that day. I called and I asked for more details on the deductions they made on the full payment that I initially paid, they refused to give me any more details, saying that we can't tell you what was charged in details, we can only tell you how much we will refund back to you, it is the most appalling service a one can ever receive. They added insult to injury when they charged me huge amount more than the discount that I asked for and refused to give me. Some of their customers service staff very arrogant and rude, they show no interest in helping customers.
