“The children get so much out of these days. It is a very valuable opportunity for them to develop self-expression, build confidence and ultimately enjoy learning new dance skills. It is fabulous seeing children who may not shine academically shine in dance which builds their self-esteem. Also the staff thoroughly enjoy these sessions. It is a chance to relax and immerse in the moment; so really good for their well-being too. We use the Sports Premium Grant to fund these days: 2 per term linked to class topics so that the curriculum is enriched. It is money very well spent!”

“Our school have been working with Dance Days for the last 4 years and they have been fantastic throughout the years. Our children love the cultural dances that they learn through our cultural week as well as learning different styles of dance for P.E. Darren is an amazing dancer and delivers the lessons according to the age group of the children. The children love it when they know Dance Days are coming to the school and look forward to learning new and exciting dances.”

“All the children were engaged and involved, even some of our reluctant dancers. The concentration on the faces of our youngest children was a delight to watch, whereas the older children were super enthusiastic and buzzing about their experience. Some staff even joined in, as watching Darren run the workshops was not enough - even they wished to be involved in it!”

My other colleagues in year 5 also said how wonderfully he engaged everyone. I was really impressed by how quickly the children were able to pick up the dance sequence and how pacy the session was.”

Communication was excellent leading up to the event and Darren was more than happy to produce dance routines for each of the six different countries we were studying in preparation for the day. The children loved the dance workshops. Darren worked with children from across KS1 and KS2. He was both friendly, engaging and professional throughout. “Our Dance Day session with Darren brought out Multi Cultural Week to life!! It was super high energy fun, well planned and thought out to cater for the needs for all and brought the biggest smiling faces to all that participated and watched.Darren was an excellent teacher with patience as well giving the children a bit of history of each dance.Every class performed to the parents and the whole school at the end of the day which was a huge success!! “Holy Family Catholic Primary booked African Dance Workshop for the day to celebrate Black History Month. We had a fantastic dance teacher, Mr Chris Gordon, who was passionate and had an enthusiastic personality and interacted well with children across the school( Nursery- Year 6), and made children respond positively with eagerness and enjoyed themselves greatly. At the end of the sessions, children were commenting how much they enjoyed themselves and how much they loved the dance moves Chris taught them, and they were sharing their dancing skills to teachers across the school. At the end of the day, we had a whole school presentation for parents, and children from Nursery to Y6 demonstrated their dance skills. Definitely, Holy Family Catholic Primary School in Greenwich will invite Dance Days back again, to do other sessions. Thank You Chris for the enjoyable day!”
