I have the heavy duty custom cutting mat on my sewing bench and it’s amazing. There is a smooth side and a textured one, I use the smooth. It’s a great surface for pattern drafting and cutting using a rotary blade. If I’m using fine fabrics like chiffon it works best to have a new blade otherwise it’s pretty resilient to what I throw at it. My last mat lasted me about 4 years and I am working on it all day every day. I could have probably got longer out of it but I changed table size so wanted a new one. Highly recommend, I will never go back to a regular table top and cutting with scissors. It’s made my job so much quicker and changing to a rotary cutter has really helped with the RSI in my wrist. Win win

"Over the moon with my cutting mat. After much deliberation whilst organising my cutting station, I decided on the plain heavy-duty cutting mat. I was originally going to opt for the mats with a grid but I requested a sample from the company (as per image) and that enabled me to try out each one with my rotary blade. I decided on this one and I am so glade that I did. It is robust, thick and a perfect finish to my home made cutting station.
