Billingham are a family owned company, manufacturing camera bags for the world’s photographers since 1973 alongside a range of leisure and laptop bags. All bags are made in the West Midlands area of England, a region famous for manufacturing. Hi William, Sorry to hear that you didn't find the bag big enough. For that camera we'd usually recommend the Hadley Small/Hadley Small Pro or larger (depending on the lenses you carry with it, of course). In the first 14 days after delivery it can be returned for a full refund so long as it is unused, in perfect condition and with tags still attached etc https://billingham.co.uk/pages/returns-policy. So it's ok to quickly test the camera in the bag for size then return it if it isn't right. So we'd certainly encourage customers to check the fit as soon as the bag arrives. “I bought this Hadley Digital directly from Billingham UK Website for my newly bought Leica Digital M. I'm quite disappointed this time. The quality is not like my old Hadley Small which I bought about 11 years ago (I gifted it to my friend last year because it was still like new, except the shoulder strap). The quality of my Hadley Digital shows the problems of craftsmanship, the design department and the Q.C. department. I bought the bag online which means I never touched it before receiving the bag (I only watched Youtube videos before buying this product). I will send a complaint email with photos to Billingham tonight because I need them to send me a NORMAL leather front strap for replacement (I hope they will). I give it 3 stars because the size, color, cutting and sewing of the bag are good. However, the problem occurred with the leather front strap (mainly on the "keyhole") ruined my normal use and my confidence. I can't use the front strap normally because of the "shape" of the "keyhole". It's surprising that very hard for a man like me to use thumb and index finger to pull from one hole to another hole (I mean the 2 holes on "keyhole"). So my Leica Digital M and my purse are not safe when I'm leaving home because I can't use the front strap normally (I can't lock it). Also, a quite deep tool mark on the surface of the front strap really makes me unhappy (I've taken photos when I received the bag). One more thing, the partitions are weaker than my old Hadley Small (this is the problem with online shopping because I never touched the bag before receiving it). I would give it 4 stars if the leather front strap is normal (function and condition) like my old Hadley Small. I would give it 5 stars if the partitions are strong like my old Hadley Small (and the leather front strap is normal, of course). I'm sorry I didn't have time to write the complaint email within 14 days although I've checked the bag and taken photos of the front leather strap within 14 days. I'm sorry I was busy and had many important things to do than quality checking for your staffs' mistakes. Yes, I'm very unhappy because your staffs wasted me lots of time dealing with this case. I thought my only responsibility is to pay the money. I always don't agree quality checking is the responsibility of customers. Hope your company can learn this concept.”

“The bag is outstanding the purchase system is miserable as we know only after the decision how difficult is the export from England The DHL asked multiple time for different way to pay not accepting some credit card. After that DHL in my country asked for the additinol cost of delivery from airpot to us ! Never again”

“Now as a professional photographer I have been buying their bags for over 35 years. The quality is astounding and I still have useable bags from all those years ago. It’s all in the materials and workmanship which is outstanding. This briefcase is mane out of Fybrenyte which is a rather unpleasant man made fibre. It feels thin and abrasive and not very nice to the touch. I prefer the canvas that they have used since the beginning and will not be buying products made with this material. This is a very important issue as the thing that distinguishes Billingham and the very reason we pay extra for their products is because of the quality of materials. There are plenty of products out there made of plastic. Please Billlinghsm do not go down this route.”

Hi Philip, Thanks for your feedback. In most of our bags we do offer canvas and FibreNyte options and intend to continue with this. The bag you purchased is available in both options. We offer FibreNyte as it is even more hard wearing and colour fast than our canvas, and many customers prefer it, but if you prefer to stick with the canvas we completely understand. “To say it in English: Very disappointing! Maar misschien is dat wel typisch Brits, lijkt heel wat, blijkt niet veel soeps; zie hun auto's en motoren ( allemaal ook al verkocht of failliet of beide). De draag riem niet helemaal van echt leer, riempjes voor de paraplu, maar gek genoeg niet voor de sluiting van de voorzakjes, dat wordt dicht gemaakt door een pin door een gat in het leer te drukken c.q te trekken, dus dat gaat lubberen. Kortom niet echt iets wat je verwacht van iets met die prijs.”

Hi Fathalla, I'm sorry to hear of your disappointment with the bag. With the carrying handles of the bag I can reassure you that the outside is made completely of real leather - we have just reinforced this with fibreglass inside to add shape and longevity. With the closing straps these do last for many, many years - as can be attested to by our customers over the last 46+ years. In the unlikely event that they do fail we offer a repair service. “I have 3 x Billingham camera bags, stemming from the 1980's.. However, I had to re-order a interior partition for my smallest bag; (aged approx. 15 years old) since the foam in the interior cells had began to decay and go both powdery & sticky! I was hoping for a free exchange/replacement - or at least at a discounted rate - but alas 'no way.' Let's hope the new cell foam will last me out. PS. My 2 other bags remain in fine condition. Good bags otherwise - well-made and from fine, hand-crafted, material.”

Dear Martin Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that you are not happy that you had to purchase new dividers. We do offer a 5 years manufacturers guarantee, however as your bags are over 15 years old, they are outside of this period so we were unable to offer you a free replacement. Any of our bags which are over 15 years old will be made from bonded cell foam which we used to use as it was the best foam available at the time. We have always carefully monitored our materials and manufacturing procedures to ensure the highest possible quality - unfortunately, regardless of the strength and quality, materials can eventually wear out or decay like your dividers have. Of course we are always trying to improve to offer improved quality and longevity. For example this is why we now line our bags with butyl rubber for waterproofing rather than natural rubber after that became technically feasible – butyl rubber being lighter and less prone to chemical attack from ozone etc. And for this same reason, about 15 years ago, we swapped from bonded foam to closed-cell foam – closed cell form being harder wearing and more chemically resilient. Because of this change its much, much less likely that your new dividers will age in a similar way. While we are sorry to hear that you are disappointed, I hope that you can draw some comfort in being able to purchase many of the spare parts you might require for your bag so long after it’s manufacture.
