Staff excellent to deal with However on ordering direct found Fenwicks delivery much cheaper for same product . This was price matched by yourselves. Waited 2-3 months happily for side cabinet and on deliver it is damaged . Wasted time off work and advised I’d be phoned in a few hours . The following day item re ordered with further 3 month wait . Marble damaged Not ideal 6 month wait and was more expensive than Fenwicks but staff in store in Newcastle and London good

We purchased couple of items and one of them did not have any instructions or the necessary tools (nuts and bolts). The item was partially damaged as well (we got a refund for it). Not impressed.

Home delivered lamp was broken, as was a replacement, as was a replacement for the replacement. Finally gave up and went into the store to collect it so a careless delivery driver didn't mess it up again. After 2 months I had the light I had ordered. Unsurprising I have not ordered from B&S since....

Customer service was excellent but quality of wardrobe bought on line was extremely poor quality and expensive. Wobbly, different colour to description, marked, pieces did not fit together so there were gaps. Not sure what happened there everything I’ve bought previously was great.

Very long wait times... Delivery is left boxed...no unpacking or helping to put.in.place as other more attentive stores do..i was left to unbox sofas and heavy items alone as i was considered out of area! delivery men do not take precautions to protect your floor or wear shoe covers.

Some good quality furniture, some very poor quality. The good was the Black Ash Cannelle dining table and the Purcell armchair. Both excellent. The Vivika five-drawer narrow and six-drawer wide bedroom units are both great, but the Vivika double wardrobe has been problematic. The first one arrived damaged and had fittings missing. This was duly exchanged and the second wardrobe was assembled. The last piece out of the box was a door which was again damaged. Not wanting to take it all apart again just for one door, as Barker & Stonehouse wanted to replace the whole wardrobe, with additional weeks of waiting for a replacement, I have decided to live with the damage. The really bad one though is the Kinsey dining chairs. Bought four at nearly £600 and they are awful. Definitely not the same quality as the ones I tested in the Hull store. I don't mind paying for quality, but these are rubbish. Dining with family and friends is supposed to be an enjoyable experience, but not on these chairs. The cushion seats are all collapsed so you sit directly on the wooden frame, not comfortable at all, and the joints on one chair are so loose it's no longer safe to use. These were bought in November so I do not know if they can be returned at this stage. It's the experience of these dining chairs that have stopped me from going back to Barker & Stonehouse for additional furniture. Meanwhile, I hunt for some comfortable dining chairs wherever they might be.

The dining table we received looked lovely - delivery and assembly was good, however there was no protection on the raw wood. We had a care plan and were advised by B&S to just use mats. Which we did however it is totally impractical for a family dining table - anything from water to yoghurt and milk stained the table (Palu). Over a short period (6 weeks ) we accumulated several unavoidable stains just from normal living. We claimed and spent some weeks negotiating between the care plan and B&S both refusing to take responsibility. Eventually, we got a new table which is a good outcome. however we have taken matters into our own hands and used a neutral oil to protect the table. It is a little darker in colour however we have had not one stain since having the 2nd table and are much happier. B&S you need to seriously rethink your advise to customers regarding protecting natural wood tables.

Couldn’t keep track of items because they took so long to arrive and came in different shipments. Still don’t know if we received everything as they arrived without product names on them and there were no images on the confirmation email.

Sofa is lovely but was damaged as it was brought through front door. After sales have been helpful and a new one has been ordered. However, I do not know approx delivery date.

We still haven’t yet received our item which we ordered in October 2021 and its delivery has been pushed back twice without any reparation offered which would have been appreciated given our patience in the matter.

Money was taken immediately from my account but delivery was months away. I then was told delivery was further months away. When I confirmed I still wanted the item I was told there would be a gesture of goodwill made - this was never received. The mirror is nice

Communication was very poor regarding my purchase. In the shop I was told it would be delivered within 1-2 weeks- it took about 6 months and I had to keep chasing them for information. Someone else's order was delivered to me (collected promptly) and when I again inquired about my own order I was sent a photo of this wrong order being delivered as "proof" I had received my order. Radio silence followed once again when I pointed out their mistake. I was promised emails and calls to keep me updated and none ever came. I probably wouldn't buy from them again

Despite the green claims when a chair broke I was unable to buy the replacement legs only despite the fact that the seat of the chair and the legs are separate items and put together at home. The company claims to be carbon neutral if they want green credibility they shouldn't deal with suppliers who do not share their values. I had to buy a new kitchen chair and throw the seat section away even though it was perfectly good just because they couldn't supply the legs separately

Having waited months for my sofa, it has been delayed by a further 3 to 4 weeks. Really disappointing.
