We absolutely loved our 4 nights in Swedish Lapland…Tree hotel and Wilderness Gourmet cabin the accommodation hi-lights. Huskies, snow mobiles and dinner on a frozen lake the activity hi-lights plus seeing the Northern Lights!

We loved the Iconic Abisko and Ice Hotel Aurora Break from start to finish! The team at Weekend a la carte created a fantastic holiday where every single thing we did felt very special. All the guides were wonderful, in particular, Mikko, who made the morning out on the snowmobiles a real highlight and Miguel whose lovely company we enjoyed for both the guided walk around Abisko National Park and the photography evening. The morning spent with Ylva and her huskies, driving our own dog sled, felt like an honour! We were lucky to have good weather so we had some terrific views of the scenery, but the people, food and peace of Swedish Lapland made it a truly memorable holiday.

Excellent holiday…….Weekend a la carte delivered big time. From our first enquiry until we reached home everything was absolutely perfect. The whole journey was seamless and went without a hitch. Abisko Mountain Lodge was wonderful and you would be hard pressed to find such outstanding food in a top restaurant yet alone inside the Arctic circle. All the activities we undertook were exciting and some like photographing the northern lights took our breath away. I don’t think we’ve ever used the words ‘fantastic’ and ‘awesome’ quite so much. The staff at the Lodge go above and beyond and made us feel so welcome and the guides on the activities were knowledgeable and made everything fun. The little things like sitting on reindeer skins enjoying Swedish Fika just added to the whole experience. A Northern Light experience was on our bucket list and we got far, far more than we expected. This Company know what they’re doing and we cannot praise them enough.

Excellent few days and nights spent in Stockholm and the Ice Hotel. Everything went so smoothly organised by Weekend a la Carte Aurora Nights. Lovely meals and entertainment at the smallest restaurant in Sweden (2 tables). Special thanks to Johan for that! Also special thanks to all at the husky rides for everything they did for us. Thank you Kevin and the team at Aurora Nights and look forward to our next booking with you.

I never thought I would be lost for words describing a holiday, but this experience was absolutely amazing. From start to finish everything was taken care of and nothing was too much trouble for any of the hotels, restaurants and activities that were organised for us. We were so lucky to see the Northern lights - 3 nights in a row - and made some unforgettable memories in such a short space of time. Kevin’s hand chosen partners are truly wonderful. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

We booked the trip to see the northern lights, but even if they had not turned up this would have been an unbeatable trip. The key to enjoying the trip is to read the website and follow the advice. We had 3 seasons in one day, but having the right clothing we enjoyed every minute. The guides Chris and especially Ingvar, were determined that we should have a good time, even in the adverse weather conditions. In fact the day we spend with Ingvar in the most atrocious weather conditions was one of the highlights of a trip filled with highlights. Hotel Ranga is geared up for the Northern Lights, adequate but unexciting rooms, first-class cooking and excellent service apart from one grumpy receptionist! We signed up for the aurora wake-up service and ran out into the car park to see the display when it arrived. Magical.! Reyjkavik and the golden circle was also great and this time the weather favoured us. One of the best holidays ever, (and we have been around a bit!) All arrangements with the travel company dealt with speedily, courteously and efficiently. I am running out of superlatives. Book a trip if you are flexible and want adventure and excitement,

Amazing trip. Northern lights came out to play which was a dream come true. Abisko Mountain Lodge was the perfect, cosy stay ( recommend upgrading to superior room) with amazing food and service and all of our excursions were expertly run by experienced and friendly guides. Special mention to Mikel for a great national park walk and photo night. Also Will as our friendly driver. Aurora Nights were professional and communicative and organised a great trip. Abisko is a wonderful place!

A fabulous holiday in Abisco National Park, Sweden, out of the 4 nights we were able to see the Northern lights on 2 nights with the naked eye and on a 3rd night the camera caught images unseen by the eye. Mountain Lodge was a fantastic place to stay, yes, the rooms are simple, but they are clean, warm and the beds are comfortable, what more do you need. The food in the restaurant was exceptional, the chef and team are young but creating wonderful food. All the staff are so friendly and helpful, the outdoor winter clothing provided kept us comfortable and warm. The organised tours were excellent, and only small numbers, so you really felt like you were being well looked after.

My wife and I shared a wonderful trip to Iceland all thanks to Weekend a La Carte - Aurora Nights. The package they arranged was well thought out without a regimental timeline. They organised 2 group trips for us. The first was a wonderful day trip through Thorsmork to see the landscape and waterfalls with a truly engaging guide. Unfortunately, due to the weather that weekend there was no Northern Lights trip despite multiple attempts. However, whilst disappointing, they, without question, gave us a full refund for that part of the trip. The rest of the trip was self-drive in a very safe and secure AWD SUV. Icelandair cancelled our return flight 2 weeks before the trip which meant an additional nights stay and' Weekend' paid for the extra night, again without any request from me. The communication from the time I booked the trip until departure was excellent - particularly helping us with all the latest Covid rules. I would absolutely use 'Weekend' again and I highly recommend them to anybody. First class.

We flew to Kiruna in the Swedish Arctic Circle for a wonderful and unforgettable Christmas stay. Weekend a la carte had recommended a super variety of activities - from visiting the Ice Hotel to a day's snow-mobiling in the national park (with a warming cup of soup half-way through) to fulfilling a lifetime dream of driving a husky team to cutting our own holes on the frozen ice lake to fish on Christmas Day - we didn't catch anything but who cared - the beautiful scenery, the toasty fire in the amazing hut on ski's which the guide took out to our fishing spot and the fun of having a go was more than enough! The Lodge was warm and welcoming and a total surprise was the quality of the food cooked by superstar young chef Magnus - worthy of any top London restaurant - we will be watching out for him on Masterchef! Thank you Weekend a la carte for a truly memorable and personal trip.

Thanks for the exceptional trip to Lapland. It made for a very special Christmas with the family. All of the activities were awesome - snow mobiles through the national park, dog sledding under the magical polar light, ice fishing on Christmas Day and northern lights photography session. And the Abisko Mountain lodge was perfect place to stay. Warm and comfortable rooms, friendly staff, amazing food and so close to all of the activities. You made it all so easy, including the provision of good quality arctic clothing that kept us warm. Thanks for all of your care and attention in making the trip truly memorable.

There is a problem with doing this trip through weekend a la carte. At the end of the trip you have to come back to reality! The team at weekend a la carte were very responsive and helpful. The trip itself struck a wonderful balance between relaxing and activities . The lodge was wonderful - the staff and the food being particular highlights. I have had experiences on the trip that will stay with me for the rest of my life -seeing the Northern lights, the dog sledging trip are the stuff of dreams. I shared the experience with my two best friends and have created memories that we will all treasure. Kevin please feel free To use the above on any social media etc. As stated the plan b for the sky station stood out Like a sore thumb for all the wrong reasons.

We originally booked this two years ago but due to Covis postponed it, but felt despite the issues, it was time to go, and we are pleased we did. Kevin and his team sorted everything for us and the advice on warm weather clothing was spot on. Although the Mountain Lodge provides outer clothing, we took our own layers. And we are glad we did, 5 layers on the top and 4 on the bottom and three on hands as well as a Balaklava, kept us warm. Travel arrangements went well. Each flight was delayed by about an hour but that was merely scheduling and staffing issue due to Covid etc. Every part of our holiday worked like clockwork. We loved every activity: trekking, Photographing the northern lights (we were VERY lucky!), husky sledging (friendly huskies), snowmobile driving, ice hotel. But oh, the food in the Mountain Lodge was out of this world. We are vegetarians and the staff arranged for special dishes to be prepared for us, and even a five-course vegetarian menu on new years eve. The veggie dishes on the menu were amazing. We had room 20 and it was warm (don't know how!) and very comfortable. Just a five-star fabulous holiday.

We had an amazing time in Swedish Lapland. The excursions and activities were wonderful, and we've made some awesome memories and some new friends as well. The accommodation was so cosy and comfortable and all the team involved in our stay were really friendly and helpful. The atmosphere at Mattarahkka Lodge is very relaxing and the food was excellent and beautifully presented, especially Edwin's desserts which were almost too pretty to eat! Our thanks go to A La Carte Weekends for arranging such a great trip, especially given the ever changing Covid circumstances. We really appreciated the personal assistance that we were given to ensure that our trip ran smoothly.

I just wanted to say a huge Thank you for arranging such a fabulous trip for us to Iceland. We had the best time! It was all so well organized and your itinerary was so comprehensive and easy to follow, we enjoyed all the trips that we booked and really felt like we got to see the most that we could in a few days. Everything was so well organised. The lovely lady Margaret that took us to the Ice Caves tour was so lovely and looked after us very well that day. The Ranga was such an amazing hotel, I have already had a few friends ask for the details based on the pictures that I put on Facebook so will be sending them your way to enquire! I was a travel agent for 20+ years until recently and have travelled and eaten all over the world but I can honestly say that the food at the Ranga was right up there with the best of the best!! Absolutely Delicious!! I will be writing a trip advisor for sure. The only shame about the trip was that the Northern Lights Campfire tour was cancelled due to bad weather conditions, however, I did always know that we may not have had the opportunity to see them and the weather just did not play ball this time!! We had so much else included, it did not ruin the trip, was just a shame! Overall, we had a wonderful weekend and thoroughly enjoyed everything that Iceland had to offer. Thank you so much again.

We had the most wonderful honeymoon made simple by Abigail who provided us with updated information and a very thorough itinerary. The wilderness cabin was excellent, we were particularly pleasantly surprised with the huge amount of food on offer and the complimentary bottle of fizz which was a lovely touch. The cabin was extremely well equipped which made everything even more seamless. The guides were exceptional and extremely knowledgeable...no question was too much! The quality of excursions were brilliant, often offering more than anticipated and documented. This was a wonderful surprise. Stefan was our guide for 2 days whom we wish to make a special mention to here. He was such a lovely gentleman, a proud Icelander and a fantastic tour guide. We felt completely at ease with him and learnt so much from him! We found the directions easy to navigate (however the name of the cabin would have been helpful as we did have to ring for help finding that!). We felt as though the itinerary was superbly put together to ensure we experienced the right things on the right days for the time we had. Everyone at SouthCoast were so friendly and we want to thank them all for making our time with them so special. Overall an amazing experience filled with beautiful memories. Thank you so much! What a fantastic 4 day trip, with the best of what Iceland has to offer. We did not see the Northern Lights unfortunately as the weather wasn't great over the 2 nights at Hotel Ranga, however the food there was Michelin Star quality. Great day tour to the Volcano and into the southern regional area. Very well organized by Abigail and the team with clear instructions on self-driving the Golden Circle - would highly recommend this trip and will surely return in future!

We loved our visit to Iceland the place was fabulous, everyone was very friendly and there was plenty to see and do while we were there. The high-lights of our trip (5 stars+) included; 1. The Super-jeep tour on day 3 up to the glaciers of Eyjafjallajökull. Our guide Einar Magnus was amazing! - watching how he handled the snowy slopes, he also shared with us stories of his life in Iceland, and while the snow was way too deep to get all the way to the volcano he took us to very picturesque places and was very sensitive and responsive to the way we wanted to spend our day. 2. The cabin was superb! - windows everywhere, great spaces for preparing meals, eating and relaxing and a sense of remoteness that is unlike anything we have experienced before. we enjoyed walking around the cabin and viewing it from the mountain! 3. The first meal prepared for us on arrival. Our guide did a fabulous job preparing our meal on the first night. It was beautifully served and very delicious. We enjoyed the leftovers in our lunches and the potato dish with our subsequent meals. Excellent plans that did not quite work as they should (3-4 stars) 1. The stocked fridge and menu was excellent, however there seem to be some coordination issues to be ironed out. Our menu did not match the ingredients in the fridge. This was really disappointing when we were looking forward to fish (a favourite) and got steak (we tolerate it) instead. The fresh lemon was there for fish, which we could not do anything with and there was no basil for the Caprese salad. I would expect an alternative and equally planned menu to be provided when foods have to be substituted. The 3 different desserts did not exist, nor the different potatoes. While the variety of the planned meals did not work as they should have we did love being able to prepare our own meals and there was plenty of food available. 2. Coordination for meeting the guides/pick-ups. We had a few mix ups with the directions for meeting our first guide on arrival, first our instruction sheet was incorrect leading us to believe that we should meet the guide at Ranga, this was corrected and emailed to us after we queried it. We were originally told to ring the guide as we pass Hella. Then we were told to ring when we left Blue Lagoon, we did this and we were then told we had to ring the guide directly from a town we could not pronounce, - when the guide asked where we were ringing from there was some confusion as I could not pronounce the town name. This would be a very simple thing to fix and keep consistent as it causes a bit of stress when first driving in Iceland. 3. Our Golden Circle Highlights trip on Day 2 was amazing however there were a couple of things that would have improved the experience. The pick-up time was mixed up - our guide was suppose to pick us up at 10am and the 4 accompanying guests at Ranga (over half an hour's drive away) at the same time. Fortunately we were ready early but in the unnecessary rush we forgot some of our camera accessories. Apparently no-one had our phone number to inform us of the earlier start and yet we had rung the office and the first guide on the first night (they would have the number) and we had given our contact details when we first booked. The itinerary was not as described we seemed to spend a very long time at a dairy farm (instead of the tomato farm) where we thoroughly enjoyed the ice-cream, and seeing the cows however we were then ready to move on. The trip took 9 hours instead of the 6 approximate hours in our itinerary and this messed up our plans for the afternoon. 3. We booked "Aurora Nights" however no-one really wanted to discuss the Northern Lights with us. This makes sense to us now as we realise that the solar activity is insufficient currently to get strong lights. This should have been explained to us however no one seemed to be accountable for this aspect of the tour. Because we had a different 'guide' for every aspect of the trip it was unclear who was to ring us if there was a possibility of seeing the lights. Overall we loved our trip. The information provided to us was clear and comprehensive and the overall plan was great even though there were some holes in the execution. We followed all the advice about booking the Blue Lagoon, what to take and other places to visit and this all worked out very well for us.

Dear Donna Thank you for your very detailed feedback and for taking the time to do so. I am very pleased that you had a good time and enjoyed your tours. I need to investigate what went wrong with the food ingredients as that should not have happened for which I am sorry. I'm sorry that the Golden Circle was not delivered as usual, and I will also follow up on this and revert to you. However I do need to push back on the comment that it is not a good time to see the Northern Lights, which I'm afraid is just not true. The forecast for this Saturday past for the Aurora's was a 7 - which is extremely high. We have only seen this very high level a couple of times in 15 years ! Obviously if it is cloudy then then the Aurora's cannot be seen even if they are out. I will revert on the detail once I have had a response off line. Regards Abigail

Weekend a la carte did a terrific job of arranging a truly memorable, stress-free bucket list trip for us. All the outings were fun and led by great guides, and the trip included an ideal balance of activities and down time. The Abisko Mountain Lodge was delightful, the staff was very friendly and helpful, and the dinners were gourmet and delicious. The highlight for us was the Wilderness Aurora Photo evening in the National Park with Chris as our guide. We were fortunate to see amazing northern lights that night. My only suggestion would be to have more logical return time options for the Aurora Sky Station visit; we had to choose between a 22:45 return, allowing hardly any time there, or 0:30, a really late option for us. I would definitely recommend Weekend a la carte and the trip to friends.

Our Weekend a la carte Aurora Night adventure was a rousing success. We were thrilled by all aspects of our journey from the flight to Kiruna to our return to Stockholm. The accommodations at both lodges were spectacular with great comfort and staff that was always nearby to care for our every need. The guides were well - trained, personable, and shared very interesting information about the area and the way of life in Lapland. The food was delicious and plentiful. I especially enjoyed the dog sledding driving and meeting their wonderful trainer, Ilva. Bjorn was a wonderful guide at Mattarahka. Our Sami experience was a terrific night of learning about the life of the reindeer herders in that area. In Abisko, all transportation was handled with supreme efficiency. The lights, being our main focus, did not disappoint. Thank you to all our hosts and guides, and expecially to Weekend a la Carte for such a well - planned, seamless program to make our adventure of a lifetime a great success!
