My wife and I had an awesome and memorable trip to Iceland thanks to Alex at Aurora Nights. Alex tailored the itinerary to exactly what we wanted to see and chose excellent hotels to stay at. We totally enjoyed the city of Reykjavik and the many beautiful waterfalls. He went above and beyond to not only recommend sights to see around the Golden Circle and Ring Road, but also mapped it out so we were prepared to drive through the country during unpredictable weather and road conditions. And we were especially pleased to see the Northern Lights on our visit. Alex was very flexible to make changes to our plans and choosing the wonderful Sky Lagoon to replace our tickets for the Blue Lagoon due to the closure from the volcanic activity. We highly recommend Alex and Aurora Nights.

We have never before experienced such friendly and simultaneously professional service! Alex's communication was super prompt, questions encouraged and welcomed and attended to with great care and detail. Everything was well organised and available on beautifully designed and very useful platforms. Our destination (Mattarahkka Northern Lights Lodge) was fabulous on so many different levels - exquisite views, friendly interactions from everyone on the team, great food, exciting activities, perfectly situated to see the northern lights (seen twice in 4 nights' stay), a great fire place, and not to mention our fantastic guide Fabio. Their provision of winter kit (hats, down jacket, snow trousers, leather gloves and boots) offered everything we needed to be comfortable outside. All we needed to have packed really were base layers, a few layers of clothing and woollen socks. Defintely somewhere we would highly recommend and return to when possible!

Cannot thank this company enough. Our break to Iceland was the second time we've let them organise everything for us and once again they didn't disappoint. Everything ran seamlessly and the organised tours were wonderful. This company knows what they are doing. If you want to experience the geysers, the volcano, the northern lights and all the other exciting things that Iceland has to offer then this is the company to use.

A fantastic short break which fulfilled all expectations. Well organised with a polished delivery, we could not have asked for more. The accommodation was perfect for us and the guides knowledgeable and helpful. Every day was packed with adventure, each lasting longer than scheduled but we were never rushed; the guides took pride in showing and explaining their beautiful country. We would certainly use Weekend a la carte again and recommend them to others.

We had a fantastic 4 nights that included glaciers, waterfalls, geysers, the aurora borealis and more! Lovely hotels, especially Hotel Ranga. We filled every moment and felt thoroughly invigorated on our return.

Thank you for arranging a fabulous holiday, we had a really enjoyable time and would love to return in the future. Hotel Ranga is a lovely place to stay and the owner greeted guests in the restaurant, which was an unexpected welcoming touch. We didn't see the Northern Lights due to the weather and the trip to the Eyjafjallajokull glacier and volcano was substituted by an excursion to Thorsmork, also due to the weather, which we thoroughly enjoyed; the brochure description doesn't do it justice. We found Iceland and the people there really charismatic. Although the wind and snow cut short the amount of travelling we could do, we still covered a reasonable amount of what we wanted to see and our appetites are whetted for a return, perhaps in Spring or Summer. We found a couple of great places to eat near the Hotel in Reykjavik. Messin does tasty fish dishes and the Icelandic Street Food restaurant was excellent, offering simple but hearty soups with refills included in the price - great value.

Everything from the when to go for the best opportunity to see the lights and equipment needed and provided. Our activities included, the Ice Hotel, night photo shoot, snowmobiling, guided walk and the sky station meal. All excellent and well run by knowledgeable experts and guides. The Abisko Lodge is warm comfortable and relaxing the food is excellent and the staff welcoming, friendly and very helpful. This vacation has without without doubt, has been the best experience we have ever had. The organisation from the minute we landed in Kiruna until we departed at the close of our trip was second to none. The transition between hotels was always seamless and punctual. Everywhere we stayed was beautifully clean and the meals were top quality. Every driver was polite, entertaining and very knowledgeable, furnishing us with invaluable information about Sweden and the activities in which we were to participate. The snowmobiling was wonderful giving access via our guide, to stunning panoramic views of the mountain whilst viewing reindeer in their natural habitat. Our guide demonstrated how to use the snowmobile safely he was pleasant and informative. When visiting the reindeer on the Sami reservation; we found the brother and sister team who hosted lovely. Again they were so hospitable and helpful and feeding the reindeer up close was a wonderful experience. They provided additional activities for us to try and we were treated to a traditional Sami lunch in their hut. They provided us with invaluable information appertaining to their culture and caring for their reindeer. The reindeer were in superb condition and happy in their environment. Similarly, when out with the dog sleds the experience was magical. Two hours of beautiful scenery, and frozen lakes, finishing with a one-on-one experience massaging the dogs. Magic! We were so impressed with the care that was placed upon ensuring the dogs were comfortable, well-nourished and so loved by their owners/handlers. Now to the photographic experience. A large group of us were treated to a demonstration of how to operate some serious camera equipment with tripod. Each of us was loaned the camera and given assistance setting up the camera on a frozen lake in preparation for the appearance of the Northern Lights. We were taken to this lake on large wooden sleighs pulled by a snowmobile. We cannot speak too highly of the two young men who accompanied us on this experience. They could not do enough for us. They were there to offer assistance with our cameras throughout the two-plus hours we were on this beautiful lake. They advised where to position the camera and when the Lights appeared, what a performance. We had a two-hour display of this most breathtaking phenomenon. We were so fortunate to be able to experience this once-in-a-lifetime occurrence for which we are so grateful. We will never forget this memorable holiday and cannot thank you and everyone who assisted in making a lifetime dream come true. Karen & Andrew Adamson

What a fantastic trip! I booked this for myself and my husband to celebrate my 40th birthday and it didn't disappoint! Booking was simple and we were kept up to date with all the details from the office team in the UK. From the moment we arrived at Kiruna airport all the staff we encountered were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We opted for the upgraded room at the Abisko Mountain Lodge which I would highly recommend. The cold weather clothing which was supplied was fantastic and kept us really warm in the sub-zero temperatures. The dog sledging, snowmobiling and the Northern Lights photography were all superb and the staff leading the trips were really friendly and so knowledgeable. Even though we weren't able to do the sky station trip because of the weather, there was a lovely alternative evening organised for us which included a traditional dinner and a walk to the lake where we were able to see the lights. The food at the lodge was also exceptional and showcased some lovely traditional dishes using Moose and Reindeer which were wonderful to try. I would like to send a massive thank you to all the staff at The Abisko Mountain Lodge as well as the guides we used for our guided walks, dog sledging and snowmobiling. I'd highly recommend the trip, it was our first visit to Sweden and we would definitely return. Thanks again to everyone (including the huskies) who made it so memorable!

Thoroughly enjoyed the trip. The Abisko Mountain Lodge was fantastic, every member of staff was friendly welcoming and charming. Accommodation, upgraded room was excellent. The food in the lodge definitely deserves the high reviews. . Good breakfast, great hime made lunch soups and extremely tasty evening dinners. The included trips were great. The only let down was the camera night, couldn't see the lights no one fault, but we were walked through thigh high snow to be left on a frozen lake for the duration of the trip. There was no warning of the difficult walk and we had a 91 year old with us and I have hip problems! That said the guide was great, as were the ones on the skimobile and husky rides. We went up to the sky station in a snow storm with high winds, added to the experience! Would go back in a heart beat. We had little communication with Weekend a la carte, no need as all communications were clear and contained all the information we needed. Very informative emails Would use again if going back

My daughter and I had an amazing time on our trip, we didn't want it to end! Everything went according to plan, each excursion was well organized and everyone involved with each activity, as well as everyone at the lodge was kind, friendly, positive and happy, which makes such a difference to your whole experience. The food at The Abisko Mountain Lodge was also incredibly good. Our room was large, comfortable and well-furnished. The bathroom too was also spacious and well-equipped. The outdoor clothing provided was of very good quality which kept us warm, and the staff members are happy to change items if they are not quite the right size for you. This is my second trip with Weekend a la carte and I'm sure there will be more as I have complete trust in them. I highly recommend Aurora Nights, it was fabulous.

Thank you 'tack', for a truly wonderful experience, everything was organised and so efficient allowing us to participate in so many fantastic activities, from Dog sleighing with the Husky Home, Reindeer sleighing with the Sami people, snowmobiling care of Máttaráhkká Lodge, plus our roof top hot tub outside was something pretty unique, not to mention sleeping in the Ice Hotel, we stayed in the Toybox room with a giant bunny rabbit plus much more, we would recommend an ensuite. Everything was amazing and the hospitality of all the wonderful people we met, made our holiday so memorable, a big shout out to Adrian our Snowmobile guide and ice fishing coach, we landed the first Arctic Charr fish of the year and pretty impressive size for a novice, and Barb who cooked, and entertained us with her many tales in the Máttaráhkká Lodge not to mention her delicious food, just lovely, we would highly recommend this holiday, you won't be disappointed.

Excellent service from Weekend a la carte, from initial email enquiry to talking through our options by telephone and an easy booking process. Having never been to Iceland we needed help and advice from an expert and that is certainly what we got. Everything from accommodation (very comfortable and isolated, just what we asked for), the tours by extremely knowledgeable and friendly local guides, the evening meals (cooked for us at our accommodation or booked for us at local hotels) exceeded expectation. The scenery is stunning. We even managed to see the Northern Lights on our last night on a superjeep tour from Reykjavik. I will use Weekend a la carte again for a return trip (this time to see this beautiful country in Summer).

A fabulous holiday with the right balance of activities and relaxation. Some elements needed to be amended ( earlier flight and room booking) which were handled well and fairly. The earlier flight was preferred as it would have been a very long travel day without the overnight stop in Stockholm. There's quite a big difference in the standard vs superior rooms but both have pros and cons associated with them. For example, the latter are outside the main hotel bar area so you have to get boots and coat on when visiting the bar or restaurant. It's a small thing, but something to consider. Guests and staff were friendly which enabled us to ask questions about up coming activities and then compare notes around the log fire. I would rebook and have already recommended it to several friends.

I had the most amazing time at the Abisko Mountain Lodge. The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble, the food is out of this world which is saying something as I’m quite a fussy eater. Martina with the snowmobiles was so patient with my nerves and really informative, it made the morning that I was dreading truly enjoyable. Miguel and the other photographer (I’m useless with names) were so helpful and knowledgeable about the Aurora, I have photos I never dreamed I could take. Last but not least William, who was in charge of the huskies and seemed to spend the rest of his time running us around. He was incredibly thoughtful and looked after our comfort and wishes even though it was a big inconvenience to him.

Abigail is a marvellous point of contact. Always keeping us up to date during a difficult period for travel, helping us through rescheduling for the following year after I contracted Covid. Ensuring my parents had assistance at the airport and that activity levels of trips we had booked were suitable. Even amending the plans for our trip to make sure we got best value for money. When airlines cancelled flights Abigail was there to notify us and offer solutions. The holiday as a whole was a great success, we were lucky to see the Northern lights nearly every evening and the trips through South Iceland Tours were amazing. We had the guides Margaret and Stefan, again both of whom were great ambassadors for their company, real personalities that made the trips all the more memorable for us. Hotel Ranga had awesome staff who were above merely professional and really personalised our experience even lending us waterproofs when a case failed to arrive. An extra night here not doing a trip would have allowed us time to use the hotel’s extensive facilities. Hotel Centrum a little noisy on rooms at the front of the building but the location was perfect for exploring Reykjavík.

Overall we had a great trip. Highlights include: + Hotel Ranga - excellent hotel with a very high-quality restaurant and superb staff. The weather and conditions were against us so we didn't see the northern lights but it was still good to sit in a hot tub and marvel at the night sky. + SouthCoastTours - Northern Lights tour. Really poor weather meant this was a long shot, but we ended up on a black beach, made a camp fire and a unique cocktail by Margaret our guide. + SouthCoastTours - very professional and friendly guides. Our tour of Thorsmork and Waterfalls was very good. Do ask to make sure you see Seljalandsfoss since this is on the way out. We just caught this before losing light but you can also stop by the next day since it's right by the route to Vik. + SouthCoastTours - Ice Caves. Superb guides. The trip itself - I'm sure this is variable depending on the conditions since it's constantly changing. This was the highlight for me - see my favorite picture attached. Amazing ! Note that there's a good Lava Centre that was recommended to us but I think this should be booked ahead of time - but they only run at 13:30 and 17:00 so that didn't work for our schedule. If I could change anything I might have returned to Hotel Ranga after the trip to the ice Caves and enjoyed some quality time there after a few hectic days. Then on the following day, drive the golden circle ending up in Reykjavik. Minor tweak and I'm sure the cost would have gone up - but may have been a practical option. We ended up spending very little time in Reykjavik itself given the touring - next time an extra day to explore and do some of the activities there would be good. Finally, a 09:00 booking at Blue Lagoon worked out perfectly - any later and it gets busy and your schedule squeezed subject to flights. We had time in the lagoon and then into the superb restaurant by 11:45 - highly recommended.

Dear Iolo Thank you for your very detailed review and suggestions. Always useful to get people's "take" on the break so thank you for your thoughts, and taking the time to give us such specific feedback. Delighted you had a great time and clearly enjoyed the activities and i love your photo of the Ice Cave! I have forwarded your feedback to the relevant partners in Iceland. For your information I don't recommend the Lava Show, which although wonderful, does not work with the itinerary timing wise, and only goes ahead if enough people have booked. It was the Lava Centre i recommended which is an exhibition open all day till 4pm. Thank you again for your feedback Regards Abigail

Last year my partner and I were deciding to go on a winter holiday to see the northern lights. We found this company and honestly from start to end the company, the holiday, and Iceland itself has been incredible. It far exceeded all our expectations and we couldn’t recommend it enough. Both Hotel Ranga and the Silica hotel were stunning and the service and staff were brilliant throughout. Oh and the food was incredible at Hotel Ranga and we enjoyed a delicious meal at the Lava restaurant at the Blue lagoon! It was the best idea to have Abigail and the team book all the flights, hotels, car hire and activities for us. It took away the extra stress and just meant that we were able to have the best time. South coast Adventures who run the activities were amazing. Especially our super jeep tour guide Siggy! We took part in the superjeep tour of Thorsmork, the secret ice cave tour, northern light hunt and a buggy tour. The week before our holiday a few activities were cancelled due to the lack of snow on the glacier eg. Snowmobiling. However, south coast adventure were straight on the phone and email making sure they could replace it with something equally as fantastic. I was sceptical when we first booked this holiday that it was all going to go as smoothly. But honestly if you’re thinking of doing it and going to Iceland, do it!! It was the most stunning, incredible country that looked like a different planet at times. It’s a once in a lifetime experience and I would 100% use this company again and have already recommended it to friends and family.! :) Thank you again!! I don’t think any other holiday will top what we have just been on!

We got home from our trip to Iceland late last night and I wanted to say thank you for such an excellent service. The holiday was fantastic, we fell in love with the country and its friendly people and had an amazing few days adventuring. The tours were superb and really made the trip - it felt like a privilege to see places like Thorsmork with so few people around in the company of friendly and knowledgeable guides. The hotels were great, the Blue Lagoon was such a treat and we enjoyed driving the Golden Circle and particularly Gulfoss. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights too, they were amazing. Life back in Scotland with mounds of washing isn't as exciting as waking up knowing you're off to see a glacier but we have hundreds of photos and so many brilliant memories to keep us going till the next adventure.

Abigail and her team put together a well planned 6 day/5 night itinerary for our trip to Iceland. Everything was taken care of, flights, car hire, hotels, tours. We completed 3 trips with South Coast Adventure and had a wonderful time on all our trips. Our favourite has to be the day tour with Gudny through Porskmork , the view of the glaciers are spectacular! What a great selection of tours on offer. Hotels selected for our stay were perfect, city centre great for exploring golden circle and the city. The Hotel Ranga, further south was perfect for that little something extra special, a La carte food and hot tubs were a treat! A special trip initially to celebrate a big birthday but ended with a marriage proposal. Out Aurora nights trip was perfect. Regards Nicola & Jem

Everything was seemless! I was worried before going as I was travelling with elderly parents and my 12 year old daughter. I opted to hire a car and questioned myself if this was wise! However I would thoroughly recommend it. The day was ours to plan and stop where we wanted. Parking in Reykjavik was easy and relatively cheap. Lots to see in Reykjavik and we loved the whale museum, aurora centre and Fly Over Iceland experience. Lots of restaurants and bars, places to walk to. The hotels (Centrium & Ranga) were clean and enjoyable (especially sitting in the outside hot tubs gazing at the stars at Ranga). In fact because we had a car/4x4, we ate only one night at Hotel Ranga (lovely but expensive), and ventured out to a nearby town the second night to eat in a local restaurant. The tours arranged were excellent (night aurora hunting with Siggy the guide who was fantastic) and river bed 4x4). A thoroughly fantastic break with so much to do and see!

We had a fabulous time, and everything ran smoothly. The road system is easy to navigate and we had surprisingly mild weather. The Super Jeep tour driving up through Porsmorck was the highlight of the trip as the landscape was incredible. The food and the service at the Hotel Ranga were exquisite. We did so much in such a short time and finishing at the Blue Lagoon was the perfect end to a hectic schedule.
