A first class trip with faultless and highly efficient organisation both from Weekend a la Carte and from all of the local Swedish staff at the Abisko Mountain Lodge who are all very good at their jobs. The rooms are basic but it is a Mountain Lodge 200 miles inside the Arctic Circle! The food there was fabulous and the arctic clothing was absolutely superb. All the activities were run by enthusiasts who are engaging, cheerful and very professional. We were lucky enough to see the aurora on 3 of the 4 nights which was as movingly spectacular as you could wish for and the Abisko area itself has to be seen to be believed. We have been back for a week and are still slightly stunned by the whole experience.

Everything ran like clockwork. Easy car hire, wonderful hotel in Ranga, great superjeep trip. Unfortunately no Northern lights but a truly different and exciting break.

Wow! An amazing holiday, in an amazing country with amazingly people! Kevin and his team set up the perfect break. As explained, a couple of the experiences changed days but that was to enhance the holiday (our photography evening moved to the night when the northern lights were at their best in conjunction with clear skies). The Mattarakka lodge was a special place indeed and all the staff made us feel very welcome. We will be highly recommending Weekend A La Carte packages to our friends and family.

The trip we took to the Tree Hotel and Ice Hotel in Sweden was superbly organised and we had a fantastic time. Sadly the Northern Lights were not putting on their best display, but that did not spoil what was a fabulous holiday.

WOW I booked this as a surprise for my husbands birthday and I couldn't be more pleased with the whole package, everything from the very first point of contact to the actual holiday was perfectly organised and went according to plan. Every place we stayed at was perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed every experience I had booked, The ski mobiles, Reindeer visit at the Sami village and the Husky tour were amazing in Kiruna as was the photography night in Abisko the whole experience was magical even in -32 degrees I couldn't recommend Weekend A La Carte enough they really are experts at creating the best experience especially for The Northern Lights.

We returned on Friday from what I can honestly say was the most fantastic trip. Everything ran like clockwork, the activities and guides throughout were excellent, the food was great and the northern lights put on a fabulous display on our final night. We didn’t get to go up to the sky station, or do the train journey, it was just too cold and was not safe to run these, but this didn’t affect our trip as other activities were provided, In actual fact we went into the Abisko National Park for the day which was simply stunning. I’d like to thank all at Weekend a la carte for putting this together for us, and to name a couple of people from the trip Anneka, who spent the day with us with the husky’s, and Chad our photo evening guide from (lights over Lapland), were both great. Highly recommended.

What a brilliant trip, all the activities were well organised with enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides. We firstly stayed at the Tree Hotel, the UFO and then the Birds Nest for a bit of fun. Then we traveled north to Abisko, the Mountain Lodge. Both hotels were friendly, wecolming and served really good food. The icing on the cake was being lucky enough to see an active aurora on our photography trip. Weekend a la carte provided a responsive and personal service, would definitely recommend them.

An extremely well-organised trip from start to finish. The Ice hotel was a special experience that we both enjoyed and all the staff were friendly and helpful. But, for us, the time we spent at the Mattarakah lodge was just superb. The overall atmosphere of the place was relaxed and stress free. The food was excellent and the staff couldn't do enough for the guests. We enjoyed all of the activities and the guides are to be congratulated for giving us such wonderful, happy memories. We certainly intend looking at what else the company has to offer in the future

My friend Alison and I visited Abisko, Narvik and Tromso with Weekend a la carte. We returned from the holiday last Thursday. Abisko Mountain lodge is fantastic, the food 4 star and they looked after us so well. While we were there we did the wilderness photography experience, husky sledding and snowmobiling. My only criticism is that the route into the park for all 3 were the same, and the wilderness shoot did not go far in. However the photographynsupport from that experience from Dominique stood us in good stead for the rest of the trip and we did see the light that night , great excitement. We had a little issue with a snow mobile but it was dealt with swiftly and appropriately by Mia at the Lodge and we thank her for her help and support, and Kevin was online and supportive. Excellent customer service. The Quality hotel in Narvik is a bit of a hike from the train station in heavy snow so be warned and ask for one of their refurbished rooms.... Out alternative Sami mountain top experience in Narvik with Lars, was the highlight of our holiday, what an absolutely fantastic evening, just the three of us and his singing dog.😃 Tromso is very pretty and the Scanvik a good hotel, ask for a quiet room though. We took the trip to the ski station and the view over Tromso and spent the entire evening watching the lights. Absolutely fantastic. Our coach ride from Narvik to Tromso was surreal, just three of us on the coach with a stop over at the Polar Park, love those wolves, and we have never see so much snow in our lives. An absolutely brilliant unforgettable experience.

It was a wonderful, exciting and exhilarating experience. We can't pick 1 highlight as all the activities on the itenary, the accommodation and the people involved were excellent. We were privileged to be able to drive the huskies ourselves, as others we spoke to at the Lodge had gone elsewhere and had only sat on the sled in groups of 3. The snowmobiling was magical as we went to the top of the mountain where the sun rose and the views were spectacular. The Sumi experience was a real adventure and a great insight into a different way of life. Lovely people. We would do this holiday all over again given the chance. Your advise on clothing was perfect as I never felt the cold at all. We did see the Northern Lights at the Lodge, one night with the naked eye and the next night only through the provided cameras. There was a couple of things that wasn't as expected, but did not spoil the holiday: I was under the impression that the 2 restaurants were inside the Icehotel The BBQ at the Lodge - I was expecting us to be present at the BBQ and eating outside, but the food was cooked outside without us and served in the dining area. Many thanks for looking after us from beginning to end. We did thank each of the people ourselves but please feel free to pass on our thanks again. We are possibly looking at visiting the bottom of Bryce Canyon or the Grand Canyon. We have seen them from the top but fancy experiencing the view from the bottom upwards. Do you deal with this sort of holiday?

The team were very helpful and booking was easy. Everything is taken care of in the price (apart from alcohol) which is great, the Lodge is lovely and staff are fabulous. Everything went to plan and smoothly. We fitted so much in thanks to the planning of the package. Information given pre-holiday was really important in regards to clothing and environment. Outer layer provided by the Lodge was brilliant. Food was very good and we didn't have to spend any extra. When you first think it's expensive, it's not, it's very good value for money considering what you get, the activities, experience and people that 'look after you' - you don't have to do anything other than turn up and enjoy yourself. I was a little disapponted with the room, I booked for 2 of us as a couple and had twin beds - at opposite ends of the room. Beds together or a double would have been nicer. I kept it a secret from my fiance until we got to the boarding gates!!! He was overwhelmed and had a top 50th birthday. Thanks to everyone, it was an experience we'll never forget.

My hubby and I have just returned from a 4 night Iconic Ice Hotel & Abisko Northern Lights Capital Break. The accommodation was lovely, clean, warm and cosy. Everything was really well organised and all the staff at the Ice Hotel and Abisko Mountain Lodge were friendly, helpful and efficient. The tours and the guides were amazing, plus we were so lucky to see the Auroras two nights in a row. We would definitely recommend Weekend a la Carte to all our family and friends.

We travelled to Abisko on 30th December, staying for 3 nights. Our trip exceeded all our expectations! Mina should be very proud of her team at Abisko Mountain Lodge, who looked after us superbly. Whilst our room was small and fairly basic, it was warm, clean and comfortable. The food at the lodge is amazing! Fine dining without the faff. The trips were excellent. To go out into the wilderness for the photo evening on our first evening, and experience the display of the Northern Lights we had was truly magical. Sarah gave us great advice and seems to have a gift for reading the sky and Marianna made sure we were kept warm in the tepee. We were initially disappointed that our snowmobiling trip was moved to the afternoon, meaning it was dark. However the darkness added to the excitement and we saw the Lights again! The New Year's Eve celebrations were lovely. We had a fabulous dinner with wines to compliment the food and the atmosphere was relaxed and cosy. The dog sledding was another highlight with gorgeous, friendly dogs and caring, knowledgable guides. The Ice Hotel. Just WOW! Unfortunately we were told the Sky Station was closed on arrival at the ski lift, due to high winds on the mountain. As we had an early start the next day we chose not to take part in the alternative activity. Our only criticism was the short time allowed for making the connecting flight at Stockholm. Our flight from Gatwick was at least 30 minutes late taking off, resulting in having less than an hour to clear a very slow passport control, dash from one end of the airport to the other and get through security. Thank you for an unforgettable trip to a beautiful part of the world. Karen and Steve Pink

Wow! What an amazing trip - a real bucket list experience. The dog sledding was out of this world, crossing frozen lakes with the sky ablaze with colour. Great to see the high welfare with which the dogs were cared for as well. Snow mobiling was another highlight as was the visit on New Year’s Eve to a Sami village where we learnt about Sami culture around a campfire, made bread ate cakes and drank coffee. We then walked to the “Homestead” where we had a 4 course ala carte meal and then on to the ice hotel for drinks and seeing in the New Year. Mattarakha Northern Lights lodge was cosy and comfortable- very informal, lovely food (lots of reindeer!!). Different to a hotel, more a home from home with comfortable sofas around a fire where you could chat with other guests. All the people we met from the guides to the lovely ladies in the lodge were without exception wonderful, kind and keen to make our stay as good as it could be. The trip didn’t always follow the itinerary given by Weekend ala carte but this was always for the better! Thank you!!

Excellent service. Trip we required was a little different to one offered by Weekend a la carte, but Kevin put a package together to suit our needs. Very pleased with the service. Shed load of information provided, knew exactly what was covered and what was not - no hidden extras. Accommodation exactly as described. Very well organised and co-ordinated activities, meals, etc. All ran smoothly. Would book with Weekend a la carte again. Fabulous holiday.

What a great trip. Saw the northern lights on several occasions. Everyone looked after us very well and nothing seemed to be too much trouble - Mikka and Annika (a pleasant and unexpected surprise to meet another Aussie, who had lived in the next suburb) and all the staff at Máttaráhkká - Johan and his family at the Wilderness Cabins (including a delightful Christmas hymn serenade from an Angel and a Gingerbread man) - Mina and the staff at Abisko Mountain Lodge - everyone that organised our activities Our only suggestion for improvement would be to have the session with a professional photographer at the beginning rather than on the last night so that we could have had some tips to use our own camera as well as the ones supplied. All arrangements went smoothly and the communication was good. Thank you!

A wonderful package, very well put together. It was seamlessly executed and left us to enjoy every moment of the trip with it and stress or worry. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would recommend it to anyone. A personal highlight would be the wilderness cabin/arctic gourmet cabin which is such a special location to capture the incredible aurora.

We had a great break in Iceland. Sadly no Northern Lights, but the scenery was stunning, good accommodation, and some excellent meals, particularly in Reykjavík. The highlight was the Superjeep tour, our guide Stefan was great fun, both on the Northern lights evening, and the glacier trip, which was combined with the river tour and ended up as a whole day out. We avoided the Blue Lagoon, partly due to flight timing, and partly due to wanting to avoid the tourist trail, and we were glad we did this, and enjoyed a relaxing evening in Reykjavík instead.

We planned this trip as a joint celebration of our 50th Birthdays and it was utterly memorable in so many fantastic ways. The Wilderness Cabin is in an amazing location, beautifully designed and appointed and with a sense of isolation and space that we've rarely come across before. The huge windows allow you to experience the full daytime and night-time views, out of the wind and from the comfort of underfloor heating. We found ourselves walking around the house with the lights off on clear nights, using moonlight as our only light source. On our self catering nights and breakfasts, the food stocking the fridge and cupboards was plentiful and varied so we never lacked for anything. It was such a relaxing place to be in. On arrival at the house on the first night we were greeted by our guide Stefan (from Southcoast Adventure) who had cooked for us, and yes the local lamb is something else. He picked us up the following morning for our Golden Circle Tour and with just the two of us in the car, we spent the entire day entranced by the landscapes unfolding before us. Stefan was great company, huge fun to be around, relaxed but knowledgeable and allowed us to explore at it all our own pace. He also took us in a larger group on a Super Jeep tour to Ejyafjallajokull and Porsmork the following day - an incredible trip with stunning views that will last long in our memories. Stefan and the other staff we met from Southcoast Adventure were relaxed yet professional, and all enthused to share their amazing homeland. Heading to toward Reykjavik via the Blue Lagoon, we stayed in the very handily situated and comfortable Hotel Centrum before an early morning flight back. It was an incredible trip, effortless in terms of the planning and organisation from Weekend a la Carte and both of us were stunned by what Iceland had to offer and can't wait to go back.

What an amazing place! Everything arranged by Weekend a la carte was fantastic. The team at South Coast Adventure were brilliant - it was great to spend the days with them on the tours, and they were really helpful when the hire car had a flat battery and would not start on our last day. The meal cooked by the guide on our arrival was superb - the best lamb I have ever had...The house is incredible and really well stocked - there was plenty of food! The Northern Lights didn't appear so we will just have to visit again. Shame! Can't wait.

We had a fantastic bucket list trip to view the Northern Lights. Not only were the lights spectacular, but we had a wonderful time doing all the many other activities that were booked too, e.g., dog sledding, snowmobiling, learning about the Sami culture and reindeer sledding. The accommodations were great, as was the service and food. Thank you, Weekend a la Carte, for exceeding our expectations and for the memories of a lifetime!

An amazing trip to Kiruna - well organised and everything we had hoped for. Champagne in the Ice Bar and 2 beautiful Art Suites ticked the Ice Hotel off our bucket list, dog sledding twice was my Uni age children’s dream as was the snowmobiling. The Arctic Gourmet Cabin was amazing and an outdoor hot tub at -23° was novel, nothing was too much trouble for Johan (even toasted sandwiches at 5am the morning we left) - shame the Northern Lights didn’t come out to play, obviously our invitation to return!

We had an amazing bucket list holiday and it was relaxed and well organised. I can honestly say I was really impressed with the teams that work at the venues and therefore I am confident Weekend a la carte take time to really consider the guest experience. We never felt in a rush or part of a cattle herd of a group. Our experience was unique and intimate which added to the experience. All the adventures we had booked and the people we meet were memorable. I will definitely be recommending to others and booking another special holiday with the team. thank you for making us feel special.
