We travelled to Abisko on 30th December, staying for 3 nights. Our trip exceeded all our expectations! Mina should be very proud of her team at Abisko Mountain Lodge, who looked after us superbly. Whilst our room was small and fairly basic, it was warm, clean and comfortable. The food at the lodge is amazing! Fine dining without the faff. The trips were excellent. To go out into the wilderness for the photo evening on our first evening, and experience the display of the Northern Lights we had was truly magical. Sarah gave us great advice and seems to have a gift for reading the sky and Marianna made sure we were kept warm in the tepee. We were initially disappointed that our snowmobiling trip was moved to the afternoon, meaning it was dark. However the darkness added to the excitement and we saw the Lights again! The New Year's Eve celebrations were lovely. We had a fabulous dinner with wines to compliment the food and the atmosphere was relaxed and cosy. The dog sledding was another highlight with gorgeous, friendly dogs and caring, knowledgable guides. The Ice Hotel. Just WOW! Unfortunately we were told the Sky Station was closed on arrival at the ski lift, due to high winds on the mountain. As we had an early start the next day we chose not to take part in the alternative activity. Our only criticism was the short time allowed for making the connecting flight at Stockholm. Our flight from Gatwick was at least 30 minutes late taking off, resulting in having less than an hour to clear a very slow passport control, dash from one end of the airport to the other and get through security.
