Bought ultra sensitive pregnancy test strips to test after our one and only shot at IVF. I've had two "false positives" from 2 different batches now, both of which came up before the control line did and stayed on the test. The first one even had colour. All within the time frame. Took other tests and even repeated with the same strips and still negative. It is absolutely heartbreaking and I don't think they should be sold without a warning on the main page to let people know about these faint lines and false positives. I have 3 more unopened packs of these awful tests and don't feel right passing them on to someone as they are clearly not fit for purpose.

Dear Emma, We are really sorry that you are finding using the pregnancy test strips difficult. These ultra early pregnancy test strips are all showing negative results. These are not positive results. The strong dark line on the photos is the control line. For a positive you are looking for a line that looks like the control line. The very faint lines that you are seeing are not positive results, but the substrate that is embedded into the pregnancy test strip which is what changes colour when it detects the pregnancy hormone hcg. Faint lines should always be ignored, what you are looking for is a BFP. A positive would appear like the control line i.e. a definite strong dark thick line. To avoid seeing this substrate line you may be better to choose a digital pregnancy test kit, as the membrane is hidden from view and the digital reader only detects a positive when there is a very strong line. You may find this information on faint lines on pregnancy test strips helpful https://www.accessdiagnostics.co.uk/blogs/news/is-this-considered-a-positive-pregnancy-test Our customer support team will contact you after the weekend to resolve this for you. We are always happy to look at photos if you are having difficulty interpreting them. Kind regards Access Diagnostics

The WORST evap lines I’ve ever seen. Some were even dark and pink. Would NOT recommend these whatsoever. Heartbreaking.

We are very sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the pregnancy test strips. The pregnancy test result should be read at the specified time in the instructions and then the pregnancy test should be discarded to avoid seeing evaporation lines. Lines appearing after the test time are not of significance and should always be interpreted as a negative result. Please contact us if you require any further help or assistance at customerservices@accessdiagnostics.co.uk or telephone 01263 731 168 during office hours 8.30am to 4.30pm Kind regards, Access Diagnostics

Absolutely awful, faint clear visible lines on pregnancy tests. Wasn’t pregnant. Give ladies false hope who are ttc.

We are very sorry to hear that you are not pregnant. This can be one of the pitfalls of using ultra sensitive pregnancy tests in that they detect very low levels of the pregnancy hormone hcg and sometimes not all these pregnancies continue. It is also best not to interpret very faint lines on pregnancy tests as positives because sometimes you can be seeing the test substrate that is embedded into the test kit. If in doubt we are always happy to look at a photo of your test result and advise. If you get a faint line it is best to wait at least 24-48 hours and retest on a first-morning sample. More information here https://www.accessdiagnostics.co.uk/pages/how-to-use-early-detection-pregnancy-tests If we can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us 01263 731 168 Monday to Friday 8.30 to 5 pm or e-mail customerservices@accessdiagnostics.co.uk.
