“I wrote a long review maybe 2 years ago with photos, including all the jackets I had made going back 36 years.
I didn’t even receive an acknowledgment. In comparison, the ones I made over 30 years are a much better quality (especially the wadding).
Disappointed really, with the effort in both making recently and taking the photos and sending a review before.
Sadly, these jackets won’t do probably even a second generation. The old ones will do several more by the looks of them.
Sad really. Norn Warden”
Hello there Norn
I was so grateful for your lovely email and fab review left for us back in January and I am HUGELY sorry if my reply to you did not reach you. That would have appeared so very rude of me, I am so sorry, and I totally understand that you would be disappointed by this. I can see that my message must have been subject to a bit of poor email housekeeping, sent to a colleague not you. I am forwarding today my reply to you directly so that you may read, such a lovely story, my absolute favourite type of email! :-).
Would you believe that after all these years the jackets are printed by the same printer in the UK too? It is so good to have this long term relationship. Regarding the wadding we have tried a few over the years - some customers prefer thin (easier to grapple with through the sewing machine), some prefer thicker (a bit more substantial and warmer). In the New Year we thought we would offer a choice of waddings (including some fantastic bamboo and cotton) so that people can decide what suits them best.
Thanks again for taking the time to get in touch Norn and with all good wishes,
Kay
“Really pleased with the kit, I used to make clothkits jackets for my own children and now 35 years later I am making them for my granddaughter. One issue I have is that there is an erratum printed on the front of the instructions, this can be easily missed and lead to confusion when making the garment.”
“I really enjoyed making the farmyard clothkits jacket as a surprise for my granddaughter. I made it by hand sewing and quilting around some of the animals, it occupied my time during lockdown and she was delighted by both the jacket and stuffed pocket animals. The only slight criticism I have is that in a few areas the margins in the pattern were quite small. This may have been partly a consequence of my making the larger size for her. Overall delighted!”
“I made the original jacket back in 1985 so was delighted to find the pattern still available. It was easy to make and I enjoyed the process. The result was lovely and I still have the pattern for another time.”
Hi there
Ah, thank you kindly for such great feedback. I think that you might have meant to leave us more than one star, as I am feeling the love for this jacket :-)
Hopefully you will have much enjoyment in both this jacket, and all the other ones that you might make from the pattern.
Very best wishes, Kay
“Made this little jacket 33 years ago for my daughter and now enjoying making another two for my granddaughters. Very easy pattern and instructions to follow and decided to hand sew/quilt
Lovely material to work with but Wish the neckline was still a mandarin collar”
