“Darlington spa...cream tea was actually a stale scone with cream and jam and a cup of tea. Treatment was good and use of facilities was nice.”

“The day itself was brilliant and the staff were all very attentive. The booking I found was very hard work, there is no phone number to call so I sent an enquiry on a Friday about availability for the following Friday, they tried to call from head office but I missed the call due to working so didn’t actually find out for definite if we were able to attend and have treatment on said day until less than 24 hours before our allocated slot. Luckily somebody did call me but I do think the booking system needs reviewing. Perfect day and if there wasn’t a group of us to book in for treatments etc I would say the booking would have been more straight forward but that is the only somewhat negative aspect.”

“Treatment we had was very good. We had arrived 5 minutes late and was told that that would be deducted out of our Treatment time which was understandable. For us though the treatment just felt a little rushed and very quick. After we had finish we were told to go back to the reception but when we did on two occasions there was a sign to say they were doing treatments and that we should take a seat. We decided to go down stairs to the main reception as we wanted to hire a robe and towel but unfortunately considering that this was a spa they did not have any clean which meant we couldn't get one. The guy at reception gave us 2 towels each to cover ourselfs and said he wouldn't charge us for the towels. We then had to walk around with just a towel on. We had not been shown where any of the facilities were so also had to ask at the main reception were the changing rooms were and the a member off staff at the spa reception were the the other facilities we could use were. This should of been explained to us when we first arrived. At the end of our visit I had to ask the main reception once again how we get our total drink and scone that was included in the package as was not told how to claim this. When we went into the restaurant there were two staff members having a conversation and took aware to actually ask us if we needed anything. I feel this location is more for members and not really focused on the spa aspect,and on the assumption that people had been before and didn't need showing around or information as to where things were. This was brought for a birthday present so was a little disappointed overall with the service and probably would not attend again.”

“Can’t fault the staff, massage was great however, this being sold as a package is disappointing. The facilities are poor, outdated and grubby. Pool water was looked murky and there were only 2 loungers around the pool which were taken. Stayed for our treatment (which was lovely) but left shortly after. The cream tea was an out of date, stodgy scone obliterated in the microwave with ‘starbucks’ hot chocolate (which was just out of a machine and tasted like water) very disappointing. Will not be visiting a Bannatyne spa anytime soon.”

“I paid for myself and my Sister to attend Bannatyne spa at Crewe. After reading mixed reviews I was pleasantly surprised with the level of customer service, standard of the spa and facilities as well as the afternoon cream tea for 2 which was part of our package. Sadly the experience was let down by the spa treatment. I had booked us both in for the 30 minute Swedish back, shoulder and neck massage at 2p.m. We were called in to the beautiful room at 2:05 and by the time we were given a brief introduction and time to get undressed it was 2:10.....the masses finished at 2:25 which I presume was to give us time to leave the room by the next 2:30 appointment. Not only was I disappointed with the massage only lasting half of the expected time but the 2 ladies providing the treatment (although polite and professional) seemed to be very inexperienced. We were not asked any questions about preference of pressure etc, the massaged started on my back, moved to shoulders but ran out of time before getting to my neck...which is where I hold all of my tension. We left feeling like we hadn't had a massage at all which was very disappointing as this was my Sister's first massage and the main part of the experience for us. Such a shame after a great start to the day using the pool, Jacuzzi and relaxation room.”
