“Some interesting stuff which I enjoyed reading. But i failed to make a Pico function with Thonny. The directions in the book were not clear and were more confused as more than one OS was discussed in the same block of text. Some of the instructions seemed to be discussing s/w that I could not find anywhere on the net. Disappointing....”
“I was one of the first buyers of the book, where an error had gotten all the way to print.
I was pleasantly surprised to receive an email that another print will happen and that I’ll receive it for free, which I already have.
Couldn’t commend The Pi Hut enough. I’ll come back for all my Raspberry needs. :)”
“A great start (as the title suggests). Unfortunately 1st edition errors were notice (before I stumbled across them) and FULL MARKS to Eden Upton and co for sending out replacement copies f.o.c. - mine arrive yesterday c/o Thepihut. Thank you.
Suggestions:
#1: An topic index might be helpful ['Now where did I read that bit about starting a second thread?'].
#2: I an 'Intermediate Level' one in the works? I am new to MicroPython and struggled greatly extending the LCD display example to say more than 'Hello World' (Extensive Googling for Sparkfun display libraries often yielded stuff that didn't quite work in the Pico, more by way of my limitations - not the Pico/LCD I think.”
“A superb book; it's clear and beautifully laid out with a nice progression in the sequence of chapters. I think it should be perfect for young & young at heart people who want to start, or just know something specific about programming. It would be ideal as a school textbook as well as a hobbyists jumping off point, which is what it is designed to be.
I was astonished that the publishers replaced the initial impression with a Second Impression free of charge when they discovered an error. With such integrity, there's hope for the future.”
