“Bought this case because it allows access to the GPIO pins and was of a sturdy design to allow me to use it with my kids.
Sturdy it is, and its passive cooling worked well.
However the GPIO access does not facilitate a solid ribbon cable to be connected to the GPIO so that you can provide a full solid extension to a GPIO extension board. Individually connected breadboard jumper wires will work but for me this was not ideal given its educational application intentions.”
“It's a great bit of kit. The top lies flush with the USB ports. The bottom adds about 7mm from the PCB. There are cutouts for all the ports on the PCB, and all the IO ports on the side are unimpeded.
It gets quite warm to the touch, but I think that highlights how much something like this is needed on a Pi4.
The only issue I have is that this isn't ideal as a computer for use on the move, as the SD card still sticks out slightly from the side, and the GPIO pins could get bent if chucked into a bag. For that use case, the Argon ONE case is much better.
However - if it's just going to sit on a desk somewhere, then I can't think of any improvements.”
