“The case looks nice, feels solid and is compact
CPU/GPU temperatures stayed around 60 celsius while listening to a podcast and running a 4k demo video from YouTube (and running a polling script via ssh). The case itself got hot to touch, not burning, but hot.
I'm also a tad worried that I will at some point somehow mange to short circuit this full metal cage ;P
What I miss most from this (and most other cases) are options to attach them to something else. Mounting holes would be nice.”
“This is a great heatsink case without question……. With one small manufacturing modification and it would be a 5 star fantastic case. If the fixing holes in the top part had been drilled and tapped all the way through it would be possible to securely mount a hat above the heat sink, as it is, any attached hat is only attached by the GPIO connector.”
“I just copied over 100GB of data from a usb drive on the PI to my desktop over the lan. Temp maxed at 57 deg C (no throttleing). The same process when PI was enclosed official plastic case took temp to 80 degrees+”
“I wanted a cooling solution that wouldn’t involve a fan or any noise. The case is easy to put together, looks fantastic and keeps the Pi 4 around the 40° mark. As a bare board it was running in the higher 60°s. The case gets warm rather than hot (it’s fine to touch). Really pleased and highly recommended.”
“Works fine, looks cool and keeps the SoC around 62 Celsius under light load. The heatsink itself sits around 55 Celsius so it's pretty hot to the touch. The only thing I'm concerned about and the reason I gave 4 stars that there is no reinforcement for the back of the board and it's bending a little bit under the pressure of the heat conducting pads. It's probably nothing but I'm not sure if it's healthy for the BGA solder balls under the SoC.”
“The Pi 4 does get very warm so some form of heat sink is necessary to assist in keeping the device cool. The Aluminium heatsink case does an excellent job in conducting the heat away whereas the plastic case would retain the heat to a greater degree.”
“The heatsink works well. Was surprised to find it makes thermal contact with the USB controller and RAM in addition to the expected SOC. Obviously the whole thing gets very hot, which means its working. I can see it being tricky to use if you use the camera or display cables, but not impossible.”
