Bought for my 8yo son who has been using Scratch Junior at school. We are not very techy parents. This was perfect. It is an incredibly simple set up. We bought a second hand small TV as a monitor. The OS is all there, has basic programs for word processing and spreadsheets, has a few games (so he could enjoy the gift on Christmas day without needing us to do anything!), has Scratch as well as a few other programs we will explore. It uses Chromium or Firefox and he can use the websites for his home work. We have bought some components to move on to using the GPIO and he can explore the push-fit components as an introduction to electronics to complement his interest in coding. Customer service so far been great, came with a brilliant manual that is in clear language. Would really recommend, especially for younger people who want to start dabbling, or do homework.

Very pleased with my device, however, it has one major and two minor drawbacks: Minor: 1) The HDMI cable included is FAR too long - I've replaced this with a 20cm cable which is just fine. 2) The power cable on the adaptor is FAR too short - I've had to add a USB-C 1m extension (M to F) to this so that it reaches the device on a desk from the 4-way on the floor. Major: 1) The device is powered via USB-C, but connects to a monitor using separate Micro HDMI AND USB3 (the USB3 is for power to the screen, the HDMI for A/V). Why on earth isn't the second USB-C port capable of connecting to a monitor and carrying the power to it? That would mean one cable in, and one cable out. Very tidy!

What can be said about this, is is basically a Raspberry Pi 5 in a Keyboard case, kind of like retro computers like the Amiga 500, BBC Master and Acorn A3000 etc but as a bonus is capable of modern computing. This us a cool kit that includes the computer, mouse, a user guide book psu and a HDMI micro to full side HDMI lead. And a Micro SD card with a flashed copy of 32bit Raspberry Pi OS on, which on first boot will go though a little setup routine. A great value kit for all levels.

The Raspberry pi 500 desktop kit is absolutely brilliant! The Raspberry pi beginner's guide book thats in the kit is perfect for completely refreshing and expanding my knowledge of computing. The desktop kit is under priced in my opinion! It really is incredible!

purchased because i hate windows 11 with a passion and wanted a modern pc that doesnt have it. safe to say i fell in love with this almost instantly. the UI is eons brtter looking and easier to navigate and shows me more information. Can still do all the things that I'd want from a windows machine. Limited on what games i can play but i have plenty of consoles for that. love it 6 out of 5

Bought this to act as a document/homework handler, does a great job so far. Only minor gripe is that the power cable is a little too short to reach from an extension cable/socket at floor height up and across a desk to the device. Otherwise great little package!

Very pleased to be able to buy this and support a British technology company. Was slightly nervous about using Linux, a system I had no experience with but in the event I need not have worried as the out of the book experience was seamless and the rpi os will be familiar to anyone who has used windows systems. Hardware appears well made and I appreciated the book as well, which my daughter has already started to read and use to play with some scratch coding.
