“Pi500 was purchased to replace a Pi400 which was part of a laptop I built for use on yachts; the Pi 400 struggles with large spreadsheets so replaced it with a Pi 500 although the hike in price made me question whether it was worth going ahead. The Pi 500 copes much better but lacks the speed of my Pi 5 running off an SSD. I think someone missed a trick here or has someone worked out how to upgrade it? I don’t understand why the Pi 500 is supplied with the 32 bit OS, but that is straightforward to resolve. However the Pi 500 is, like its predecessor a very good general purpose computer for everyday tasks.”
“Really good. These things are at a point when they can be used for home computing and this is a convenient way to get a portable home computer. I've been using this as my desktop for months. Performance is good with no overclock and overheating is not an issue.”
“I have the Pi400 so the Pi500 made sense to add to my kit. It's faster than the 400, I haven't really used it much yet but so far so good. It out performs my PC which is good as it needs a lot less space and the 4K output on my monitor is awesome”

“My main reason for buying a PI500 was I wanted to build a retro system so I could relive all my 8 & 16 bit computing days! The Pi500 allows me to do this in such a neat and well made device. Since buying it, it has sucked me into the huge world of Raspberry Pi and what else the machine can do. Signing up to a Raspberry Pi magazine subscription has helped get the best from this machine. Only problem I have is getting back from my teenage daughter!”
