“Perfect hat for adding a Pi to a rack with PoE. Needed 16mm standoffs and the header kit to clear the 4-heatsink kit I also got, but works great. I also replaced the fans with 40mm Noctua fans with a 3d printed adapter, as noise is a problem. Great!”
“Really easy to use, 4 screws and standoffs and carefully locate / push onto the POE and 40 pin headers. I'm using them to power a Pi4B and a Pi3B, this fits both and both booted fine as soon as they were connected. Very pleased and will buy more when I add another Pi”
“Easy to install. Uses ALL the GPIO pins rather than just the ones it needs. Bit of a shame. The power and IO LEDs are VERY bright, which makes me think it over-supplies a little bit. Gets warm, but haven't seen it activate the fan yet. Running OpenWRT with a fair amount of traffic through it. Hoping the reliability is good. 5 days now, 24x7 operations, not a hint of a reset. Recommended.”
“It works a treat! Very easy to install.
The fan is a bit on/off though. I had to source documentation on configuring thermal management from third party forums, as the information on this wasn’t good enough on the official Raspberry Pi site.
As long as you remember it’s a PoE+ (802.3at type 2) and not “regular” PoE (at type 1 or af), and ensure that you connect it to the appropriate switch port (mine has two PoE+ and six PoE), you’re good to go.”
“Love this hat. So useful being able to drop my pi's down to a single cable, as I run a few stacked and headless. No problem to install - just pop in the standoffs (provided!), push fit on the GPIO headers and away you go!”
