“Easy to install and does what I needed it to perfectly. I was trying to run a Pi in a box outside and found a 10m CCTV 2.1mm power cable with a micro-usb adtaper to the Pi just wasn't stable enough and the Pi kept rebooting. Because of the higher voltage on the Ethernet cable the loss is not a problem. Tested with a 30m CAT6 cable and no reports of unvoltage or throttling so far. Plus I don't have to rely on a wifi signal to connect to the outdoor box and get better speed all through the single cable.
I only wish I had read some of the reviews first and decided earlier that I did want access to the GPIO headers. As it states in a few, the PoE hat mounts on top of the Pi, doesn't use the GPIO headers itself but the pins are too short to stick through.
You have to use the PoE HAT extra tall header set to get access to the pins. You also need 15mm (not 16mm but they work) stand-offs to secure the board with the tallk header fitted. The header kit and stand off also means you can actually add heat sinks to the chips on the Pi as well (the PoE hat components would hit them (specifically the fan screws are longer and touch the main heat sink but you could just turn it around).”
