This is a very useful hat, with two significant caveats. The first is that the fan is a bit annoying; there are quieter fans available in a similar form factor so I might see if I can replace it. The second is that because the socket for the POE pin header connector on the Pi has been surface mounted, it has rather a tenuous connection to the board. As a result, removing the hat can easily cause the socket to detach (as I discovered). It isn’t too hard to solder it back on again, but worth noting. I think if I’d designed it, I’d have used a through hole part for the socket for that reason. A final note is that if you have a heat sink on your Pi, you’ll probably need to remove it to install the hat. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning as the reason I had to remove the hat in the first place was that I spotted the heat sink fouling components on the back of the board.

I have never used that PoE hat before but it is a very good extra to have and is being used now on my Pi4 b. I will more than likely buy another one

Couldn’t get to work with my Pi5 and then the connector broke off.

Really easy to install, do need to go to the internet to find instructions though!
