“Works, but is significantly hotter than a cheap external active PoE splitter which was less than half the cost of the official PoE+ HAT. Plus the fan is very noisy, which might be an issue for some applications.
I brought this as I assumed it would be more efficient for an application which is quite heat sensitive, but I had to switch back to using the no-brand PoE splitter as the CPU was throttling at ~80°C with this HAT.”
“Brilliant way to install a little network appliance in my system with minimal cables. Once I can get a new RPi 4 8gb that is... wont pay the insane prices that everyone is flogging them at now have to wait till they are back in stock. Then build my Nagios Core”
“The best power source for a Pi 4. Single cable solution, oodles of watts, reduces cable mess, works flawlessly. I have 3 Pis powered this way and they never miss a beat. Enough power for a USB 2.5" HDD or SSD. Default fan curve is aggressive but can easily be tamed.”
