“A great budget option for a monitor. Looks great in the white/raspberry colour scheme. Usb-c power port and a full size HDMI port plus brightness/power/volume controls to the rear. Small stereo speakers mounted in the frame means that I don't need to bother with additional speakers for listening to uTube vids, although if you're planning on listening to music then a better pair of speakers are probably needed.
One thing to note, make sure you use a PSU and not a charger to power the device as a charger may have incorrect power delivery for the monitor meaning that it may not wake from sleep correctly. I swapped from an Anker charger to an official Raspberry Pi PSU and the issue was resolved.
At 250 nits max brightness the display will struggle in bright sunlight but this is nitpicking at this price point. Overall a fantastic monitor. Highly recommended.”
“I bought this item for use with my Pi500+, but I've actually used it more so far with my work laptop as a portable lightweight second monitor. I'm powering the screen from the laptop's USB port and it is bright enough for everyday use, and I'm very happy with the build quality and the screen output”
“I bought this at the same time as the Pi 500+ Desktop Kit. I have other monitors left over from old set-ups, but I wanted the whole “Pi” experience. There’s not much to say about the monitor except that it works. I did have trouble getting the cable plugged in to its socket under the kickstand. On boot up, everything looked okay but, when Pi OS went into desktop, the monitor turned off with a symbol that looked like a power plug with a cross through it. I thought it wasn’t getting enough power, so I tried different power bricks - to no avail.
Eventually I figured out that, although the cable was pushed in as far as it could go, there was actually a fraction of a hair’s breadth still to go. Extra fiddling and pushing, and then it let me see the desktop.
It’s counterintuitive to show the monitor working just fine, and then borking just before getting to the desktop. It makes you think it’s working fine, then black-screens you with no additional information beyond the cryptic symbol.
I guess that’s par for the course with set-ups like this. Don’t take anything for granted because, if it can trip you up - it will.
It’s now running fine, though. Good to have the official screen but, if you have other monitors, use them and save a few quid.”
