“Compared to the old DAC I used the sound in this one is amazing. I had some trouble being able to adjust the volume from within MPD and Raspotify, but managed. Here's my settings for MPD in case it might help someone:
audio_output {
type "alsa"
name "ALSA Device"
mixer_control "Digital" # optional
}
and for Raspotify (/etc/default/raspotify):
OPTIONS="--mixer=alsa --mixer-linear-volume --mixer-name=Digital"”
“Good sound.I chose this dac because of the built-in headphone amp. I find a lot of these types of things come through very quiet on my hifi (beocenter8500) compared to other sources. Connecting the headphones jack to my aux in gives roughly the same volume and great sound. I did have some difficulty getting rune audio to output sound rven though the overlay was there but pi core and moode worked straight away.”
“Fantastic sound! Nice full bass and crisp high frequencies. I'm hearing things in the music I didn't know where there before. The (downloadable) manual is very clear, which makes installation a breeze. Full marks!”
“Using with a Pi4. An easy install with a setup consisting of MPD server and Raspotify. After a few days running in sounds really good and certainly a worthy improvement over the DAC+ version. Extended pins on the header make for easy connection of a HighPi case fan for temperature controlled cooling. A bargain at the current price.”
“Awesome purchase, highly recommend. Huge improvement on Rapsberry Pu audio compared with using on board audio Jack. Also very easy to setup just followed an online tutorial.”
“This is the output stage for a PiCorePlayer/LMS music player. The sound quality seems fine, especially for the modest price. Works straight out of the box on a Pi3 with the PiCorePlayer installation.”
“Certainly clean sound. There are plenty of reviews around to contrast and compare to other boards of similar nature, with are more in depth tech analysis that I can give, but it delivers and in my starting out creating bespoke solutions for my own workflows, it has fulfilled it's role. Onwards and upwards!”
