“The product I received was the 'Raspberry Pi Dac Pro', which has a green PCB, not black, so bear this in mind if you wanted a black one (I wasn't bothered at all.) Using it with moode audio on a Pi 3A+ which it pairs nicely with, given its identical footprint of 65x56mm.
Selection/detection of the device in moode is a lot better and less fiddly than other RPi audio players I have tried out, but I did initially have some potentially deal-breaking problems with popping when starting, un-pausing and track changes (initially was running the 32-bit version but reinstalled to 64-bit and it the problem went away.) But I have experienced similar issues with this and various aforementioned alternative player software that I could not resolve. (your mileage may vary though.)
Despite some starting stresses, I really like it and the output is very clean and loud compared to the Pi's stock 3.5mm jack output. The balanced option is great to have too - would have used this for XLR to my amp but all I had left on it was phono after the CD and turntable were connected.”
“This card allows me to play hi res audio up to 24 bit 192k via my pi and Kodi. It is easy to assemble. Unlike the IQ Dac+ (which seems to have announced itself) I had to add a line to my /boot/config.txt to tell the pi about the dac -

Both dacs seem to be affected by the pi still sending the default pi audio to the hdmi cable, even when it is disabled in the config as above. I had to send my video signal (on the hdmi cable) straight to the TV so that only the dac audio (on an RCA cable) went to my receiver and from there to the speakers. Can be a bit fiddly with the remotes! But the dac actually works very well, and is worth the money and the wait.”
“Compared to the old DAC I used the sound in this one is amazing. I had some trouble being able to adjust the volume from within MPD and Raspotify, but managed. Here's my settings for MPD in case it might help someone:

“Good sound.I chose this dac because of the built-in headphone amp. I find a lot of these types of things come through very quiet on my hifi (beocenter8500) compared to other sources. Connecting the headphones jack to my aux in gives roughly the same volume and great sound. I did have some difficulty getting rune audio to output sound rven though the overlay was there but pi core and moode worked straight away.”

“Using with a Pi4. An easy install with a setup consisting of MPD server and Raspotify. After a few days running in sounds really good and certainly a worthy improvement over the DAC+ version. Extended pins on the header make for easy connection of a HighPi case fan for temperature controlled cooling. A bargain at the current price.”
