“Do not buy this unless you have the official case, and then it will probably not do much to the temperature
Very poor RPM and did nothing in a case with lots of ventilation
temperatures got up to 80C”
“My Pi4 was runs 24/7 as a local web server and collects environmental data to send to Thingspeak every 30 minutes. It is headless with a small usb drive. The cpu and gpu temperatures were in excess of 85C.
As usual, The Pi Hut quickly dispatched the fan. The fan was neat, small and well made with clear fitting instructions. Fitting was simple, open the case lid, attach the heat sink to the cpu, clip the fan casing into grooves in the case, fit the three wires onto the gpio and replace the lid.
My Pi4 is now running below 65C. As this is below the default 70C setting (which can be altered) the fan does not come on. The heat sink is doing a magnificent job. So did I need a fan? Yes, for reassurance, the low cost of the device and it will probably be required during the summer.
I did reduce the trigger setting to force the fan on to see if it was noisy. Quiet, quiet and quiet.
Very pleased, as with all Raspberry Pi products and highly recommended.”
