“Working great so far with my new Raspberry Pi 4 in the Argon One case with SSD installed for a Home Assistant install. Its early days yet and see this as a long term project until I get the hang of adding integrations and add-ons and themes etc. I am trying to set it up as a Home Assistant but it is a big steep learning curve which I am enjoying. But it is going to take some time to understand how it all works.”
“Bought the Pi 4 Model B with 8 GB RAM to facilitate remote control of my astrophotography gear. This includes the HEQ5 Pro tracking mount, main camera and guide camera. Using Arch Linux (64 Bit) it runs like a dream and I can control my telescope and associated equipment, in the garden, from the warmth of my kitchen. I use a remote desktop facility and there is sufficient wifi bandwidth to make this a very smooth and enjoyable experience. The telescope tracking is finely corrected by means of a guide-scope, which looks for star movement to sub-pixel resolution - this has to happen in near real-time and the Pi 4 copes effortlessly.”
