“Awesome little machine, I have installed OpenMediaVault and connected a 4Tb external HDD to create my home server, with Samba shares to my home PCs and miniDLNA media server, with a temperature control fan it is super quiet, and low power.”
“Having been a Raspberry Pi user since 2012 and having a silly number of them now, I've found it amazing just what these great litt;e devices can do. The RPi4B 8GB is by far the most expensive so far, but the additional memory makes it far more usable as a desktop-style device, which I find fantastic as my development platform for RPi, Anduino, and ESP32 coding - it means I can have a browser and the IDE open simultaneously and have yet to see it slow down at all, in spite of a silly number of browser windows open - wonderful.
If you use 32-bit raspiOS (formerly the better Raspbian) then any single process is limited to 3GB (which, in and of itself is a HUGE amount of memory for most applications) the still being developed 64-bit raspiOS of course removes the limitation- but I've found the 32-bit does all I need, and I can have more things open. Recommended - if you need, and can use, the additional memory.”
“Great to find this in stock with next-day delivery. Works as expected with RPI OS. I wanted to run this headless and then used the Raspberry Pi Imager Ctrl+Shft+X command to do this during the install.”
