Its fast and ts got two HDMI but, who has space on the bench for two monitors. Its got a 'C' type power socket which is incompatible with existing RPi's. its got two HDMI sockets, great for advertisment terminals but not much use for 'normal people' and the HDMI ports are incompatible with existing RPi's being of the micro connector type rather than the RPi's Zero's mini and the A,and B's normal connector - so far, damn expensive and difficult to locate. Its got up to 4gig memory. It will not, yet, boot to USB or Network or any of the useful booting features. In 4k video mode its not compatible with VNC. It won't fit in any existing case because the network and USB sockets have been moved, It gets bloody hot. Would I buy another ?. Possibly, but for my money the incompatibilities outweigh the extra speed. The extra memory is'nt such a great thing for the 'normal people' and the extra 3 gig for an extra £20, too expensive imho.

Nice to see the product moving with the times. Got the 4GB version. Only problem now is getting a suitable case for the pi4 but I'm sure those will come with time.

Under sustained load it suffers from cpu speed throttling. Search the raspberry pi forums and you’ll find multiple people reporting temperature issues.

As a long-time user of Pi model 2 and 3s, the 4B offers a vast improvement in performance. I can now run computationally intensive desktop planetarium software such as Stellarium. I've used the 4B in an open-sided case with fan-assisted cooling and, post new firmware, passively cooled without issue. Looking forward to running it as a desktop machine once an Ubuntu MATE build for the RPi4B is available.

Finally, an external disk at USB 3 speed, and GB ethernet make this idel for a home server.
