“I could not find the pi4 in the states so I payed a few more dollars and ordered here. Very impressed how promptly they confirmed and shipped the unit to me. Equally impressed how quickly it arrived through royal mail. Thanks”
“Pretty much what the other reviews on the internet say: performance is really good, however the out-of-spec USB-C charging was disappointing (I wanted to use a spare Macbook charger but can't!) and it really needs active cooling because it gets very very hot.
All in all, really nice little board, really really fast and responsive. Just don't want to leave it unattended because it runs very hot.”
“Thanks.
Asking me to review a product that I've not actually received, even though I placed the order 2 WEEKS AGO.
Maybe actually wait until it's delivered to send me this email?
I'll update this review when my product actually arrives - if at all - I've already been in touch with customer support and they've resent it.
I get that the item is popular and delivery delays are expected. But when your delivery option is literally "Royal Mail 1st Class" and I've received my dispatch email almost instantly from purchase. I'm getting frustrated that I've parted with my money and yet still I don't have a product. This link, https://thepihut.com/pages/delivery, states that you use Royal Mail First Class which is 1 day shipping (incl. Saturdays).
Deliver my item and I'll actually review it!”
“(Purchased 4GB version) This is a significant upgrade to the Raspberry Pi and performance is really impressive. Not sure about the need for two HDMI ports but as I only use the Pi headless i'll pass on judgement. It will be an impressive NAS / webserver when the firmware is updated to allow booting from USB like the previous Pis can. The only issue so far is the heat. This device gets very hot very quickly. I also purchased a Raspberry Pi4 heatsink (large) and I would suggest anyone buying a Pi4 does the same as it takes quite a few degrees off the CPU. Even so, if the Pi4 has been given a bit of a workout the heatsink can get almost too hot to touch, so be careful. When the new cases are available I can see there could be over-heating and throttling problems, as without any airflow through the new case I can envisage the heat build-up to be too much even with a large heatsink. Unless you need the extra RAM, faster read / write speeds or true gigabit ethernet the Pi3B+ is still a good buy however the Pi 4B is a seriously good piece of kit for the price.”
“I use it for media streamer, for a Linux learning machine and for an office productivity tool. It is slow and it is running hot at times so I had to buy a case with a fan. Otherwise it does the job and it does it well.”
