“I already have 2 Pi 3's which are used, successfully, as media centre's. I bought the Pi 4 to see if it could be used as a replacement for my main Linux Computer. I liked the fact that the Pi 4 is more powerfull and has 4 Gb of memory. A friend already had a Pi 4 and advised I buy a case with a cooling fan. This I did and the temperature rarely goes above 45 degrees C. The Pi 4 is a great little computer, but I did have a few problems. I use smartmail for my emails and it has a function that logs you out after a period of inactivity. This was accelerated in Chromium on the Pi 4. Twice it caught me out in the middle of adding URLs to text. Because I wasn't typing it thought to itself; "Ah! Inactivity. I'll log out!" Then there is the screen tear when playing videos from Youtube on Chromium. Very annoying! I installed P7zip-full because I like to add a password to compressed files, for security. It didn't offer me the option to password protect a file when I compressed it from within the file manager. Having said all of that, this could be a problem with the Raspbian OS. I'll have to try it with another OS. But I will not be replacing my main computer with a PI 4 anytime soon!”
“Bought this to use with a DAC. Sound quality vastly improved and speed of acquiring files increased. Very pleased and I think it now is better than the Asus Tinkerboard. So pleased I bought another.”
