“This is a Sony single tuner DVB-T/T2 device. It works very well, with a decent antenna. I've used mine to replace a DVB-T USB TV Dongle I was using with TV Headend and Kodi. Mainly because this supports DVB-T2, which I can confirm works perfectly well for me. Many people don't understand the requirement for the 'right' antenna. If you have problems, and a 'great' antenna, then perhaps it's being overloaded, try a smaller antenna. Anyway, the device setup was simple (follow their guide, including the updates!), works well, isn't that expensive for a DVB-T2 device, might be more efficient that a USB device as it's using SPI, but that would need confirming. It seems to run really quite cool for a tuner (most of my USB TV Tuners get quite warm). It's running 24/7, so I'll know how stable it is 'over time' in a few months... years. Overall, I don't think you can go wrong with this. Though, don't buy it if you are looking for an SDR radio type solution, as those are usually based on the well understood RTL tuner chip, not this SONY chip. I've recorded both SD and HD programmes without any issues at all. Bearing in mind it usually takes a while to fine tune DVB-T/T2 for good performance with the USB TV Tuners I've used, I'd say this boards performance is better than the USB Dongles I've used. Cheers. “After a couple of hours of constant head scratching over installing tvheadend, I finally got it installed by updating the apt list. That was a huge relief for me!!! It is a great product and I can stream live freeview tv on any device that has a web browser in my home!!!
Well done raspberry pi!!!”
“Hardware and TVHeadend installed very easily on a RPi3B+, viewing streams on Pi and PC browsers pretty useless constant pauses etc. and unusable. Research suggests various fixes available however a quick solution for the PC was to install VLC media player which works perfectly.”
