“This little device is small enough, cheap enough and flexible enough to end up in a LOT of projects where previously you may umm-and-aaah about “risking my Pi”. The fact that they kept the GPIO pin sockets intact (as well as how little power it draws) makes potential “smart device” projects much easier and cheaper; I can see this ending up in a lot of projects which wouldn’t have been cost effective before.
All of its limitations are pretty easy to overcome; a hub here, mini-HDMI-to-HDMI cable there and Micro-SD converter cable will get you set up; the only real problem is the lack of availability (not surprising given how insanely high demand has been). The Pi Hut were the only reliable source that I could find to date.
At £4 this is one of the most remarkable computers I’ve ever owned – I’ve had more than 60 systems since the early 1980’s and this little things staggers me with what it can do.”
“I love it. It's not that fast (compared to the Pi2 ;-)) but still usable for some embedded projects. And it runs Linux, compared to the Arduino. That's awesome.”
“I remember getting tape cassettes in magazines with games and demos on followed later by CDs. However it was unthinkable that you would ever get a full blown computer on the front let alone one that was so capable!
It is an fantastic little thing and would totally recommend it to pretty much anyone. Easy to get started but there is so much you can do with it!”
“Great fun and I was lucky to get one before they sold out. Get the "Essentials" kit as well ~ you won't do much without it. I had great fun setting this up ~ it's now busy powering a Unicorn hat (Grandson is very amused)”
