“It's been said loads of times already but the Raspberry Pi Zero is tiny but amazingly versatile. Planning on getting a few when stock levels are higher and put one in everything!”
“Managed to get 1 of the Pi Zeros when they came back into stock just before Christmas, what can I say, excellent product at an unbeatable price.
The size is great too, can't wait to do some new project with the board due to its size.”
“Pro's:
*Cheap
*nice and small - about 1/3 an original B
*Very low power usage, even for a Pi
*compatible with the Pi gen 1 ecosystem
Cons:
*You will need to add extras.
*Not compatible with Pi camera/display
*Bit of fiddling required to use HAT's.
Most of the features of the Pi Zero can be found all over the net at the moment, So I'll just add that they all met with my experience; it's a Pi, just like a Model B+, but clocked a bit higher, using less power, taking up less space and a lot cheaper, it's great.
My only issue is that I kind of feel that for most a $7/8 computer that included full sized ports would have been more useful. Very few people will own a mini HDMI anything, and whilst most can be expected to have a few USB A to micro B cables from smart devices, again most people will have to buy an adapter and probably a USB hub. My overal verdict is that it's great, but that adding a full sized HDMI and USB port would have actually lowered the over all set up cost of the Pi for most. That said the basic kit offered here on Pi Hut looks very good if you don't have these things and only makes it a tenner.
Shipping to Aus was two weeks over Christmas and a very reasonable £2.50.
All in all very happy with my new toy!”
“My 5 year old just finished building a lego case for the Pi Zero. Loved the essentials kit and will put the little computer in good use ( motion detector / alarm ) shortly.”
