I hadn't used openElec or Kodi before, but they were perfect for the live IP Cam video streaming system that the PI was used for - as interface between the IP Cam and the TV.
The only necessary item that you don't get in this kit is the keyboard (or mouse) but in most media centre setups you won't want one except for initial setup.”
“It solved all my problems of trying to get my so call Sony Smart TV to recognise my movie collection on my NAS drive (it seemed to have issues with the Codecs?). It was far too simple to set up, I kept looking for the complicated bits, but there wasnt any, Kodi worked immediately just connect to my WiFi point at the NAS and it was working, even connects to the surround sound via HDMI. It is even possible to control it via the Sony TV remote. I can also now see my entire music and photo collection. So impressed have bought another one to play about with Python etc.”
