“Great value, bought this to run a Pi-hole server for my parents and does the job perfectly (and quietly)!
The kit is nice because you know everything will "just work" together.”
“An excellent purchase. Delivered next day, beautifully packaged, everything one needs to get started.
I shall be using it to create a MAC address detector for CyberEssentials purposes using wireshark.”
“Starter kit is... fine but it has issues. There is a memory card supplied for the unit but no way to write to it (it's preloaded with OS so that's not too much of a big deal).
Main issue is the case. There's a slot for the sd card but it's misaligned to the board. If you insert the rpi into the case you cannot then later insert the sd card. If you insert the sd card first you can get it into the case, but it worryingly bends the SD card. The case then does not cleanly close as the epi is pushing up on the far side.
Looks like it's possible to screw down the rpi into the case... but screws are not supplied for this so the base isn't really usable.
Furthermore the rubber feet which you peel off a sheet and stick to the case were incorrectly cut (misaligned cutting machine) so all the feet are actually half-feet. Not a big deal but added to other issues makes the whole case feel very disappointing.”
“Works and is relatively inexpensive for someone wanting to try it out. However one warning is that 1GB isn't very powerful as I found out when it froze whenever I gave it CPU intensive tasks as 1GB is barely enough to run the OS that doesn't leave much RAM for anything else. So that for example when entering a command in the terminal of Visual Code I found text inputs lagged so I wasn't able to run scripts I planned to run. So if you plan to run applications getting something like Raspberry Pi 5 with 8 GB RAM will result in a much better user experience.”
