“I have a B, a B+ for my four year old daughter and a B+ which I use for electronics.
The B+ not only has a large GPIO capability it also has some more USB which is handy for when you have a wifi dongle and keyboard and want to plug in something else. Mounting holes and even just having cables on one side make it useful when mounting onto an Adafruit Pidish with T cobbler so one can have a good solid breadboard platform for ones Pi.
For robotics the A+ looks great as lower power and also in the HAT form factor.”
