“I purchased an Argon ONE V2 for use with a Raspberry Pi 4 and was very happy with it. So I was eagerly awaiting the RPi5 edition.
It did not disappoint, the NVMe drive means even faster boot time. I was surprised that a script was needed to control the fan and power rather than use the built-in on the Pi board. Also once installed in the case it is difficult to insert the PCIe ribbon. More in-depth instructions on fitting this would have been helpful.
Finally and most important, because the ribbon connection to the NVMe drive covers the SD card reader it is difficult to actually get an Operating System on to a new drive. Having a list of methods and problem solving that can be implemented would be helpful
Despite the minor niggles noted another this is a very attractive and functional RPi5 case, and I would recommend it to anyone.”
“This is the third Argon One case I've bought, and the best by a country mile for NVME drives. I've also got the version for the Pi4 which links the NVME base via a double-USB plug. This one is much neater, with an internal cable leaving all 4 USB sockets free. Performance was as expected and assembly was a doddle. The version I received had a loose magnet for the pin cover, but a dab of superglue fixed that easily. I always fit slightly deeper rubberised feet - available from Amazon for a couple of quid for 100 - to improve the airflow (and so cooling) underneath the box. Not sure whether this is necessary, but it can't do any harm. My RPi5 serves as a web server and Nextcloud host, so relatively low intensity work, and passive cooling appears sufficient. The fan only turns on briefly when rebooting. Recommended.”
