I was looking for a USB Wi-Fi adapter that could be used with a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W without adding a kernel module. This product perfectly satisfied that requirement. Now, if it were a little smaller, it would be perfect.

I am not using with a Pi instead with a Laptop running a Debian derivative niche distro. It worked straight out of the box so the advertisement was correct: it indeed does not need additional drivers which can be a life saver when you want to connect to the network so don't have any drivers yet. Thumbs up, would buy again. Everyone should have one in their digital bug-out-bag for emergency situations.

Works fine for connecting to a WiFi network, but I just couldn't get it to work as an access point. Only android devices would connect to the access point. Macbook, iPhone and Windows refused, returning to the password request. Tried to diagnose but nothing being logged on the Pi when trying to connect, and the Mac, iPhone, Windows failed to give any useful hints as to what is wrong. I am having to fall back to use the Pi 5 internal wifi to provide an access point for an upcoming event but that really isn't going to go far with number of connections (i.e. my reason for picking this WiFi adapter up).

I got this to have an extra wifi interface I could run in monitored mode. Works great, required zero comfiguration on my Linux box.

This module surprisingly does not work well with Ubuntu on raspberry PI. At first, it didn’t work out of the box, I had to adjust my network settings. The bigger problem was that this adapter would just stop working after some idle time, so my PI would get cut off the network completely and the only thing that helped after that was reboot. After reboot the connection is good but as soon as I leave my PI for some time, the adapter dies again. I tried all sorts of fixes: turning power mode off, modifying current on usb3 output, etc In the end I had to remove it completely because native PI’s WiFi module is more stable lol.

Bought this dual band wifi dongle to replace one that had died. It works really well on an older pi b+ v1.2 that I use as an mpd server, range and performance is great.
