“The quality of the Raspberry Pi continues to improve, and this time I used the Win32Imager to create a backup of the system I was using on my older Raspberry Pi and was delighted to find that the backup system did not include secure information like my Wi-Fi passkey!”
“Pi is brilliant; it tiny but powerful. I have played with Raspbian, xbmc and xbian. No isuues. Very pleased. I haved booked my own domain whatispi.com to share more about rpi.”
“Order arrived quickly. Set up took just a few mins and quickly up and running.
Like the fact I can reinstall os easily if kids break it. Very happy. Thanks.”
“A great machine if you want to start programming, play with robotics and do electronics projects. yet, it's really fragile when it comes to electricity, so you have to be really careful!
howerer, I do recommend the Pi and ThePiHut services - they are great!”
“I got the model b rasp pi with the sole intention of using it as a low powered xbmc media centre and have been really impressed by the results. It runs great, the set up has been pain free and every component I bought for pi hut is 100% compatible, no annoying driver issues forcing returns, I just got a package of everything I need.
I'm planning on ordering another couple of pi's because after researching online there are so many applications I want to try out.
At the minute though my rasp pi is loaded with openelec, powered by the USB port on my TV an plugged direct into HDMI. 30 seconds after the tv is turned on the pi has loaded openelec ad is ready to go. Convenient and using no more power than TV already uses. An absolute dream solution, you're basically turning any tv into a smart tv for £30”
“The larger memory will certainly be useful as I plan to use this Pi as a development web server. A very low-tech but valuable enhancement is the provision of mounting holes. These enable the mark 2 Pi to be firmly mounted, unlike the mark 1, which is tricky to mount securely.
As a long-serving IT professional, I'm happy to use NOOBS to install the operating system. The guys who wrote it did a great job so why waste your time duplicating things that experts have sorted for you.
If you have time, RISC OS is well worth a look. It may not work quite as you expect but it's definitely worth persevering as it is very well suited to low power hardware.
Enjoy your Pi! If you have only worked with software before, now's the chance to have fun with wire, LEDs etc.”
“Bought a couple of RasPi units to act as mini DNS servers for test rigs at work, which they're working really well for. Very quick service from The Pi Hut and would definitely use them again (in fact I already have :-))”
