“The magnetic base is rather useful to keep the antenna in one place as it is rather lightweight. It does the job and it is great as a first step. From a second-floor flat, the antenna has achieved a max range of approx 130nm so far.”
“Has tripled my aircraft count and distance compared to my homemade 'cantenna' - get a range of 180 nm and 1400 aircraft a day from a first-floor window in Liverpool.
Should have upgraded sooner!
As always communication and dispatch from Pi Hut top notch. Thanks!”
“Good price. This is probably a 'starter' antenna to get you up and going with ADS-B. I can detect planes out to about 160 miles from a loft conversion window. I may move to a more expensive outdoor antenna to get full coverage in all directions.”
“For the size and type of use, this is working very well as an ADS-b antenna. An outdoor antenna mounted high up would clearly be better but with the constraints of this product in mind and its intended purpose, this works as well as you can expect.”
“Nice long lead, seems to pick up a good range of planes (for its size) - remember it needs to be near a window to get best signal, inside middle of house it will struggle (because of signal attenuation). It doesn't have a magnetic base (it says so but I don't care) and it does tend to fall over when it is pulled by its lead, this is why I deducted one point from rating. I printed a 3D base that it could slip into to give it more stability, if I'm allowed to post a link here see: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5753106 or just look for ADS-B aerial base on Thingiverse. I'd buy again: good aerial.”
