“I have been running librelec on my Pi4 in this case for one week (24/7 on). The case is sometimes pretty hot and I believe the temp is a reason for two sudden restarts.”
“At rest, the Pi 4 in this enclosure raises around 48°C. With the maximum CPU (not GPU) load, it around to 52°C and then maintains this level. So if you're looking for an efficient passive cooling and don't mind having a 50°C box, this is good.”
“What can I say, a big fan (or not) of FLIRC cases. Not the cheapest, by far and away the best.
So, apart from a change of form factor for the Pi4, we have the case as a heat sink. Does it work? Generating DH codes for an hour or so (1 core flat out), the Pi stayed below 50C and the case felt like it matched that, so I would say yes. Better than I would have expected with a sealed case and no ventilation.
WiFi concerns? Partially warranted. The case isn't completely aluminium, the bottom is plastic, so while I experienced no issues, the exact orientation of case wrt to antenna may cause a significant(for a given value) drop.
Summary, worth every penny.”
