“The flirc case is in aluminium using the case body as a heat spreader for the processor. As such the system keeps below 50 deg even under heavy load and does not need a fan. For this reason it is a better solution than the official RasPi case.”
“Very simple alloy case, built quality is excellent, keeps router temps around 48-54 degrees which is fine. Shame there's no heat sink for the USB or Ram chips but it's working fine.”
“This excellent passive cooling case comes in a nice, minimalist box.
There are no instructions on how to install, but it's pretty straightforward.
It looks great and works nicely, bringing the temperatures of my Raspberry Pi 4 from 70C to 52C, under medium load.
A few tricks can still be used to reduce it even further, as don't attaching the top black plastic lid and/or let it sit on top of a metal plate (i.e. a turned off wall heater), to allow the heat to dissipate even further (Do not do this if the heater is on!)
The black lid looks really nice and I'm happy with 53C, so I let it on.
For the users that need access to GPIO this might not be the best case out there - you will need to buy a slim flat cable adapter and route it towards the bottom of the case, unfortunately. Since I don't need it, this case is perfect for me.”
