It works but was a huge effort finding out how to use it. 1) It comes with no instructionsor even a link to a datasheet, this is dreadful - PiHut - please can you show just a little more customer respect? This appears to be a description of the device: http://henrysbench.capnfatz.com/henrys-bench/arduino-sensors-and-input/arduino-hc-sr501-motion-sensor-tutorial/ 2) You must use a stable supply voltage, I originally tried a battery driven voltage regulator but had all kinds of problems. Then used a lab power supply and it worked ok. Haven't tried it with a raspberry pi yet.

I purchased a motion sensor along with Adafruit jumper wires. Unfortunately the sensor was damaged during the shipment (I live in Finland). I gave feedback via thepihut.com - website of the damaged product and within an hour I got a response saying that a new motion sensor will be sent out at the same day. I will give a grade of 6/5 for this kind of customer service! It was incredible fast and well working and something I'm not used among online shopping. Great job and thanks again to thepihut.com and the customer service guys and girls!

During setup and testing I had problems with continuous false detection. After lots of web searching I tracked this down to interference from the Pi 3 WiFi. It was solved in the short term by turning WiFi off, and in the longer term by using a longer cable - the original cable was about 6 inches - anything over 12" seems to be OK. The Pi Hut description doesn't list the part number, which made tracking down troubleshooting info difficult. For future reference, it the part no is HC-SR501. There is a good website on the setup here: http://henrysbench.capnfatz.com/henrys-bench/arduino-sensors-and-input/arduino-hc-sr501-motion-sensor-tutorial/
