“Extremely easy to set up on an iMac, then transfer to the Raspberry Pi. Only sets 6 functions, but these are mostly enough to operate raspbmc.”

“you just need a ir reciever and connect it to 3 gpio and it's all good. Why use a USB module when we have gpio, it's more expensive, more power comsumption, and you loose a usb port. An ir reciever can be found in any device that use an IR remote.”
