“So I decided to upgrade my headless Pi setup to a v5 with 8gb and an SSD - who knew a Pi could be so luxurious. Then I set it up and realised the WiFi was just as awful as all the other Pis I've owned. So I began the dance movements associated with invoking the gods of the wireless signal, trying spots high and low to connect through a couple of brick walls. That worked OK on days I was happy with SSH disconnecting after as much as ten seconds, and the Pi losing the internet connection and not wanting to reconnect until I rebooted. So I bought one of these very reasonably priced Pi-Hut-tested dongles and all is now well. So why can't Raspberry Pis come with one of these!”
“The external WiFi antenna was promptly despatched, worked as soon as it was plugged in and put my magnetometer back on air - no fuss, no drama, perfect !!”
“This was for a device providing real-time calendar updates in a sports club. I needed plug and play WiFi and that's what I got. Plugged it in, updated the config with the SSID and password, job done.”
